Ground Control Kit

I have had to reduce my wishes of a nice pair of coilovers to just springs for the meantime. I have had my eyes on a few brands of springs, Tein mostly, But then i stumbled upon these

http://www.ezautoaccessories.com/pro...id=p875-c39506

I know alot of honda kids use them but i looked through their fourms and they arent so bad for them. Every time i tried to find something about these on here it was only mentoned or something real quick or that they havent made a kit yet. So i found these they say that they will fit the 08 Lancer up to the 09 which does seem kind of fishy but none the less i wanted to see if anyone has had these or should i just go ahead and order the tein springs?

Hmmm... It does look a little fishy... If you want to be safe, go with Teins, they're a respected, and trusted company. These Ground Control "Coilovers" can't say the same. If you feel like going out on a whim, tho, you could go for it. I don't think anyone on these forums has tried them.

I've got a buddy who actually recommended these to me, he has been messing with 3kgts for for a long time and he said that they are a pretty regular thing in their world. Ground Controls with a set of good Bilstein struts apparently is the perfect mix for people who don't want to throw down the money on a full up coil over kit.

Sorry but that is just stupid logic. A decent set of shocks will cost you $400 easy, then buying a $400 pair of "coilovers" and you are at over $800 after either taxes or shipping. You can buy a decent set of coilovers for right around $1000. Saving $200 for an item that I really wouldn't trust doesn't seem right to me. Because you are lower than the standard ride height it is going to wear out your struts that much quicker and you will be spending another $3-400 to buy new ones. And Bilstein doesn't make anything for the Lancer. I don't think they even have anything for mitsu cars at all.

Woah woah sparky, I'm merely the messenger here. I was told something and I was just forwarding it on because maybe someone could use it.

Just stating that person is using stupid logic. When someone tells you something like that don't just take them on their word when it is something you can easily check, and then realize it's not the best solution.

Do I know that it's not the best advice in the work? Yes. Do I know that it is an option that has been used on other platforms without disastrous results? Yes. Have I seen it done? Yes. Would I do it? No. However this may be the only option available to a persons go runs across this thread at some point.

Edit: after retreading your flame, youre basically saying ANYBODY who lowers thir car without using coil overs is an idiot and is wasting their money. Btw I can get a new set of GR2 struts for our cars for like $250

Flame? definitely not. Educated opinion, yes. the Kyb GR2s are basically an OEM replacement for standard suspension equipment. Not designed for lowered cars, so still gonna blow um out sooner than later. I personally have my car lowered on just springs and am starting to notice the reduced quality in my ride due to struts starting to go. Just because I dont agree with you doesn't mean I'm flaming you. I just wouldn't suggest someone do something that I personally wouldn't do. I'm no master mechanic but I do have about a year of training at an automotive school, so I somewhat know what I'm talking about.
