Lowering a 2013 GTS

Hey I'm looking to lower my 2013 GTS. Can anyone recommend me anything that is good stance and ride wise? I'm on 18x8.5 with +35offset XXR 521's. Tires are 225/45-R18. (The tires are slightly stretched) I don't have the fenders rolled yet but looking into it as well. Just want to start pricing out what it will cost me for getting it lowered?

For a good compromise of comfort/handling /stance I recommend the Eibach Pro-Kit.

I had the Road Race G.R.I.P. (max stance and handling ) and they were 'too much'!
Every road imperfection was amplified through the cabin.

Nice!! Thank you very much!! I looked at the Eibach pro kit and is it just springs? Do I not need to get new shocks as well or is that just a waste? I just don't want the shock to go bad. I will most likely get the pro kit because it sounds like what I'm looking for.

Just springs.

If you have over 80K miles, I would do the struts too.

I've got H&R sport springs, and really like em. Was gonna go with the pro-kit, but decided the drop wasn't quite low enough. Don't care the "raked" look either, wanted more of a level drop both front and rear.

I will look into the H&R springs. I don't know how much of a drop I can go with so I will look into anything right now to get an idea. Also I'm not sure what you mean by "racked" look?

Also is your car on your profile? Just curious to see what it looks like with H&R. How much of a drop do you have ?

It means that when looking at the side the car, it appears to be slanting down lower in the front, even though the wheel gaps in the front and rear are even.

This is the only side shot I have of my car right now, it was taken a little while after the springs were installed. It's not very good, due to the angle and lighting you can't see what the wheel gaps are like. H&R claims that the drop is 1.4 front/ 1.3 rear, but I didn't measure before and after. What I can say is that they cleaned up the wheel gaps nicely, and I can just clear pretty much any speed bump when approaching it straight on. The ride isn't bad either, just avoid potholes the best you can. A lot of people say that aftermarket springs are bouncy, but I find em to be a fair bit stiffer than the stock ones.

Oh ok I gotcha! Thank you for explaining that! I am not a big fan of that look either. Depends on the car for me. Are the Eibach Pro Kit springs going to make my car look more like the racked look than the H&R springs?

I like your ride man that looks clean as hell!!!!! Looks almost identical to mine from the side. (Other than the wheels and tinted windows!) Looks good man I like it a lot!!

Here a couple pics with the pro-kit springs on mine. I like the rake personally, its very slight but i think it makes it look a little more aggressive. Also im running 225/45/17 on the wheels so that is why there is a bit more gap at the fenders, which i also like, to each his own.

Yes they will, because the drop is a fair bit lower in the front than the back, with the eibach kits.

Thanks bro, I'm running the stock GTS wheels right now as I'm thinking of selling the enkei's to put that money towards other mods. I'll try and get you an updated sideshot of my car soon, to better show the drop.

Nice Ride dude!!! I like the Grey on Grey!! Its a good look!. I also like the pro kit look on your car. I dont think the rack is too bad. Maybe it looks a little different in person but I think it looks clean!!! I like it man. Makes me re-think H&R or Eibach.... I also heard something about Tein.... Are they any good that you know of?

@>tiC No problem man! I wanted those wheels so bad when I first got my GTS. I kept the stock ones until I was able to afford the ones I wanted. I have the XXR 521's 18'sx8.5 +35 offset. Trying to figure out how to post a pic of my ride in here and not just on my profile lol... I will figure it out lol

I think the Tein's are a bit more of a drop, though I think there is a couple sets. The Eibach's drop the rear 0.8" and the front 1.25". If you are driving your car as a DD, especially in the winter if you are in heavy snowfall areas you may experience problems, I park mine in the winter but I can tell you, if had tried to drive it in the winter here I would've been completely screwed. I'll try and get a pic of when I pull into my driveway but I'll tell you now, I barely make it up, I have to go slow or I'll scrape, and I cant back in and it is your standard 5" sloped curb, the front is lower than your average parking block too so watch out for that. I would not go any lower than I am now.

As far as quality I don't think you'll have any issues with any of them, it's like cars, you might get a lemon somehow, but on average they all work fine. Focus on how you want it to look and your driving needs.

P.S. If you do get the Eibach's make sure they are the Pro-kit and not the Sportline set. Sportline's drop it like 2" or something crazy...that's just too damn low, lol.

As far as I know, the Tein S-Tech's provide the lowest drop out of all the aftermarket spring kits available for our cars. 2.1" in the front & 1.4" in the rear. They'd be good if you're looking for something close to the "slammed" look. The sportlines are 1.7" Front Drop / 1.2" Rear Drop. Seems like most of the spring kits out there, other than the H&R's and Progress' give the raked look which personally I don't dig at all....not on a Lancer anyways.

@A-GTS-***: Here's a better side shot of my car, the ground where I parked wasn't super flat...but it gives you a good idea what the H&R's drop looks like. I've got roughly 4.5" of clearance from the ground to the lowest part of the GTS' lip extensions

Yea you make some pretty good points. I live in Georgia so I get some snow but cant say its a lot compared to other places. I am going to use my stock wheels for winter wheels and tires just so I don't mess up my nice wheels. I know I don't want the "slammed" look so I probably won't go that low with the drop. The car is my only transportation at the moment so it is my DD.

@tiC I like the look of the H&R springs on your car. Looks really good!!!! Im thinking I might go with the H8R springs but then again I am being picky because I want to make sure its what I want lol. I like the level stance to the car for sure.

@tiCP.S. That is a really good picture of your car. I like it! Also you said something about lip extensions??? What is that? I was curious about putting a lip on the front of my car but couldn't find anything. Sorry for being a newb! lol
