Vibration.......!!.!.!!!....!!!

I recently purchased a set of RS Limited Concept Pro 17x7 rims. I put 205/40/R17 WanLi Tires on the rims.

Before this application I had: ADR GT Sport 17x7 Rims, w/ the SAME TIRES.

After getting the ADR application rebalanced by a different wheel and tire shop, the vibration went away..... This time it was a little different.

w/ the RS Limited application, I have had the wheels ballanced 3 times, and NO LUCK. Still vibration from 60-85mph. The guy at the second tire shop (that fixed the vibration w/ the ADR set) said something about hubcentric rings. I have never heard of these before. I ordered some to see if they work, but who knows...

Anyone else had this problem? Hubcentric rings fix it?

FYI, I had the ADR set on for 4 months before switching to the RS Limited set...

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I've had that kind of problem before. It had nothing to do with the wheel it-self though. I had a piece of ice stuck in my front springs. As soon as I took it out, the problem whent away.

Winter is now over, so there is no way your problem is caused by ice, but you might want to look up your springs and make sure nothing is stuck in there.

Nothing has changed since the last rims though... and the springs have nothing in them.... im just a little confused at this time... there was no vibration untill i changed to the new rims and tires... The ADR ones were fine, inbetween rims, i went stock, and that was okay too. Maybe alignment... but it just deoesnt feel like alighnment... is there even caster adjustment on the OZ?

Try to determine which wheel it's coming from and inspect the rim and tire carefully. How old are the tires?

Tires are brand spankin new. After I put the hub rings on (should have in a few days) I will test it, and if there is still vibration, I will troubleshoot further.

It does sound like a wheel/tire problem. Some simple troubleshooting you can do yourself is to rotate the rear wheels to the front and see if it improves. If it does then you could then bring one of the fronts back up and again see if you have the vibration. Process of elimination will eventually identify which wheel/tire is off. This of course assumes that the balance is better on the rear than on the front

Because the hub is the center of the wheel, it would have to be seriously out of whack to produce a harmonic / vibration.

Another thought is whether you have drilled any potholes or curbs recently. Bent suspension components can produce some strange symptoms.

Good luck.

the wheel hub rings might be what you need....
What they do is fill in the gap between the wheel and the rim. They're not spacers, so please dont misunderstand me there, they're not to push your tires out further. What they help with is filling in that "gap" the after market rims have. Most aftermarket rims, in order to be be able to fit on most cars, are made slightly larger on the inside then they need to be.

What ends up happening is this creates a heightwise gap between the circular diameter of your wheel and the circular diameter of the inner rim. In short, the only thing holding your new rims on and centered are your lug nuts. If one of them is loose or lets go, you're gonna be in for some trouble, such as a strong vibration.

It's also better to have the hub rings because I've been told they take a lot of the stress off the lugs, so your less likely to damage them.

Wait, you said the tires are brand new? How brand new? Remember tires ride a little rough and shimmy a little when they're brand new. After a few hundred miles they get better, usually. After that you might have a problem. Look for tire bulges.

Again, I did not have this problem w/ the previous setup. Same size rim, same offset, same tire size, and brand. no hub rings on those either, Same brand lug nuts... Thats what amazes me... everything is the same... except for the rim... RSL/ADR are practically the same brand... but, If the dude tightening down the lugs isnt doing it correctly, it could throw the rim off center.... so we will wait untill the rings come in, and go from there....

*sigh*...

its the hubsentric rings..im 90% sure of it... alot of people ignore them .. but you greatly need them.. alot of wheels arent "exactly" made for the each car. the hubsentric rings go in the inner well of wheel where the lug nuts come in.. you should be fine once you put them in .. i hope this helps ..

Well.. after rotating the tires, and carefuly rotating from each lug nut to the next (star pattern) I got some of the vibration out. Im still waiting on the hub rings... They were sent out last tuesday in the same state... some reason i feel like im getting screwed LOL... at least the vibration isnt so bad right now... But as I spent so much time making sure I centered the wheel the best I could, the hubcentric rings have GOT to fix the problem...just seems right... Car still pulls to the right a little bit... but its due for an alignment after the lowering and rim swap.
