Does anyone have this clutch kit or have any ideas if it's too much for poor old Lancer OZ with future plans for 6PSI?

RPW Clutch Kits
XTSS - Xtreme w/ Street Disc
RPW offers a range of performance clutches to suit all levels of modifications for all of the Mitsubishi, Proton & Hyundai engine variations. Essentially RPW has adopted a very different style to many other firms. Most firms stick with the organic style clutch disc and exerting extra clamping force via a modified cover plate, invariably making pedal action heavier, less precise and overall reducing the comfortable driving style.
RPW instead, stays with the standard cover plate, albeit slightly modified to accept the use of a Semi Ceramic Paddle Clutch brass button clutch disc. Brand used in this range include Daiken, Exedy, PBR etc. The benefits of this is
1. Clutch clamping force has been increased by 50% by the specific use of Ceramic buttons
2. Due to the cover plate being adapted to suit the slightly thicker buttons, there is no extra foot tension required to activate the clutch.\
3. The vehicle can be driven like a normal car with very minor reduction in driving habits
4. The clutch is able to handle a much higher level of modifications
5. The clutch disc when worn out simply needs to have the clutch ceramic pads replaced without replacing the whole clutch assembly
6. The clutch discs we use are a sprung centre, not a solid centre retaining ease of driving yet able to handle very hard launches without slipping. Less strain on the drive shafts with this design.

Well, I don't think RPW would come out with a product that wasn't of high quality. Also, it says it's safe for daily driving, and high mods. My guess, is it's on the same level as the clutch sold by RRM (which is just a revamped ACT clutch any ways).
The photo doesn't match what is described. That is not what I would call a street disc and the cover looks like a pull type Hyundai Tiberon. Certainly it's not a clutch for an Lancer OZ.

I allready contacted RPW to check on that and they said it is clutch for 2002 Lancer. It will work almost the same as stock one but it will be able to handle more horespower. - and I was talking with them about Stage 2 clutch.
6psi will not require a clutch like that. I wouldn't say it's "too much", but it certainly isn't necessary. You're made about 10 clutch threads since you started here, and gotten very little differing information so let me just say this: If I remember correctly you just learned to drive manual trans on your Lancer, and that's part of the reason your clutch went so quickly. I'd recommend continuing on an organic clutch face with a stronger face and heavier pressure plate. Pedal effort may be a little higher, but it will not be on/off like a 4-puck or 6-puck with a ceramic or copper face. It isn't impossible to drive with an on/off clutch, but engagement in low gears requires a lot of finesse unless you like hopping around like a kangaroo. That being said, RPW has some great products out, and (though I have no use for this particular one) I hope they continue to support the Lancer in the manner they have. I just wish they had a larger presence in the US.
Good luck with whatever you decide, Greg.

Why did I start so many threads about clutches??? It's a big investment and as I learned it can kill your transmission .......... if it's too strong. I want a clutch that would hold some power and will not wear out too fast.
As far as driving a stick shift it's not that I worn out my clutch, it was OK when I bought it, then after getting used to the car it was So So, and then I let my friend drive it for 20 miles by himself and now there is nothing.
Thx for all the advice you all. What I'm going to do is order stage II from RPW.
Stubborn? GOT THAT RIGHT
I'll let you all know.
My next thread will be about me writing a review about this product.

I wasn't complaining about your number of questions, just the number of threads.
Gonna go check out the stage 2. I never saw RPW's clutches when I was buying parts, and it's been a long time since I've really looked for anything new anywhere. Kinda curious what they put together.
EDIT: RPW's page sucks sometimes.
The drivetrain page for the Lancer isn't working, and the general clutch page is way too vague to satisfy me.
Oh well. Do you know any specifics on it, Greg?

Whatever I wrote on the top of the page is what I know about the specifics. I e-mail'ed visionimports about that clutch kit and they said it's not the one on the picture above. It's a four pack ceramic clutch with throw out bearing for Lancers. Stage 2,3,4 are $399.00. It's made the way to be drivable almost the same way as on the stock clutch. When I'll buy the kit I'll post pics, and later on review about the kit.
As for the web site, they had some problems with the hyperlinks and whatever. Right now it seems they fixed it.
P.S. somebody pm'd me before about RPW's clutch and they said it was awesome, so that's why I picked them.
