AWD or RWD conversion?

I don't know if this is a re-post but oh well. Any chance changing Lancer FWD into awd or rwd by using other car drivetrain? because I saw this integra with RWD conversion using CR-V drivetrain.

I remember reading somewhere that up until this year ('04), the non-EVO Lancers had the required driveshaft tunnel and mounting points to convert to AWD. I'm not sure if it's true, but my '04 RA doesn't have that tunnel. I could not convert to AWD or RWD without remodeling my floorpan.

AWD is possible. There is a guy here in Calgary, Alberta who actually converted his 04 Ralliart to an AWD (rally purposes I think). None-the-less it can be done, really though if the cash is available anything can be done.

its always the cash that starts the problem. just like having a turbo. its not possible if you dont have 5g to start with.

You need a driveshaft tunnel for either AWD or RWD. W/o it, how are you going to spin power to the RWD. Hope and prayer?

Otherwise, if you don't know the process, don't even try it. Also, you have to refit your gas tank.

well damn, i think a conversion like this could actually be possible for me. i can pick up the rear assembly off an evo for pretty cheap. and i already plan on going with a fuel cell for weight purposes, our tanks are HEAVY. i never really thought about doin it, but i think it could be an option for me.

Driveshaft from a GSX won't do . . . few DSM'ers have done it. The driveshaft isn't as strong as a typical RWD. When it starts to get real power down to the ground, the thin GSX driveshaft snaps in half.
