My shifting is getting rough.... any ideas?

I've been noticing lately that shifting is getting a little rougher. Sometimes the gears grind a bit (or synchros) even when i have the clutch fully in. Sometimes its almost impossible to get it into first of second gear. I feel like I am going to snap my shifter in half. ANyone have any ideas what could be the problem if there is one? Do I need to make an appointment with Mitsu? THanks in advance for your help.

Did you check the fluid?

do you have a short shifter? if you do, over time the lube starts to wear off and you have to re-apply it. I've also noticed in cold weather, it tends to stick when going from first to second. It feels like it gets snagged or the clutch didn't fully dissengage.

Don't take it to !

Check the fluid. Better yet, take all the fluid out and put in NEW fluid. It's probably just getting old and dirty (and possibly missing some).

I changed mine at 30k and it's made a major difference. Get some Mobil 1 or Red Line gear oil. Then follow instructions.

Had the same problem on my Evo 8 (NZ Version with 6 Spd). Replaced the fluid with redline and it is now whole new world - smooth shifts, only slightly notchy and no grating

I've found that my shifting is almost impossible to get into first and second gear when I first start the car in teh morning (sub-freezing temps), but once the car is warm, then its a lot easier.
