Weird gurgling sounds when I depress the clutch.

hey guys/gals,
I thought I'd post up in here cuz the sound I'm hearing is when I depress from the clutch pedal. When I drive my car I'd press the clutch, shift, and when I depress from the clutch pedal I hear this sound. It kinda sounds like a gurglin underwater/bogging sound. It comes from the left rear well and up forward.

What could this be? What can I do to fix it? Anyone with the same probs?

Something tells me it's just my CAI suckin in that air and it's just loosely bolted on or something .

any input...?

oh yeh it usually happens when i drop the clutch too fast. If i really give it a good slow blend of clutch/gas then I won't heart the sound at all or very faint. But I drive hard a lot and just shift, drop clutch pedal, and accelerate.

hope this tidbit of info helps a lil.

Lady comes into the doctor and say's "Doc, my leg really hurts when I do this." She then jumps on one leg up and down while shaking her head violently.

The Doctor then looks at her and says, "Don't do that."

Don't drop the clutch too fast... j/p

Sorry, I couldn't resist. You're clutch could be going. I've noticed that when a clutch is about to go the resistance changes and the pedal feels mushy or even springy. It's hard to explain. And you tend to miss gears more toward the end of the life of a clutch. I'm not sure what the sound you are hearing is but I think you would know if it was your clutch. It just feels different.

The pedal does feel springy and I did tend to miss alotta gears. I've fixed missing the gears by putting some new bushings, that helped a lot. So now with the noise, I wanted to change the tranny fluid soon anyway to Redline. I'd like to think my clutch ain't messed up this early into the cars life. It's not even at 25,000 miles yet...more like 22,000 miles.

Yhea, totally. Go have someone qualified look at your car. If you're rough on the clutch, it's perfectly feasible to have it die at 20 thousand miles. People that are rough on these cars glaze the clutch plates and then wonder why they're getting slippage and funny noises.

The Lancer is an ecno-box. The Ralliart ships with the same trans as the 2.0 Lancers. The trans/clutch setup was made for smooth, quiet operation, not racing or hard acceleration. You beat on it, it'll break. End of story.

Of course, there is the one in a million chance you got a faulty clutch from the start...you won't know that until someone looks at it.

I should get it checked. I might want Mitsu to check it out for me. Cuz if ithere is something wrong with it, I will most likely get it fixed at no cost since I still got my warranty. Problem is I got some mods since I bought my car, and I don't know if they'll do it now.

Sailorgoon - Know any mod friendly dealerships in IL? I know they got some listed on this thread https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=125111 but they're all way too far for my tastes.

I would think that this is not the clutch but that it is the throw-out bearing, and if you decide to do the redline fluid you are more than welcome to come out to my garage again I have a fluid pump and everything needed to do the fluid swap.

ISSUE RESOLVED.

It wasn't my clutch after all. Hehe. It was so simple but I'm just glad I got it fixed. I brought it into AMS and it wasn't my clutch it was my cold air intake! The intake pipe was banging on the battery tray. So they just removed the battery tray and pushed in the piping more into the rubber couplers, and WALAH instant fix.

1) I saved myself from voiding a warranty. Mitsu said they'll check it but if they find it aftermarket related they'll charge me and possibly void something.

2) Saved tons of money! Not only did Mitsu not charge me their crazy rate of $95/hour for labor, but I did not have to buy a new clutch like I thought I would have to.

3) AMS is awesome. It just shows that they do everything from custom turbo setups on 10 second cars to fixing a minor problem like this.

Well I couldn't pinpoint what it was. I know it was an easy job, but if I knew what the problem was then of course I would've done it myself. They diagnosed the problem and fixed it. I'll be honest, it cost me $34. But in the long run, it saved me $95/hour rate at Mitsu and a voided warranty cuz it was due to an aftermarket part. Also, I didn't have to buy a new clutch.

All in all...$34, not bad. Now i'm happy. Isn't that all that matters?

Yes it is. 34 isn't bad.. I paid 40 bucks for a shop to stop my exhaust leak. They put on a new gasket and charged me out the ***... and it still leaked. I fixed it today for 4 bucks... for now :] GO AMS!
