Question Clink/Clunk from driver side..

I have started a thread dedicated to the clink/clunk/tick sound from the front driverside of the car. I have searched quite a bit for this, and found a few people that experienced a sound, which only happens when you take off, down shift, or go in reverse from a stop.

Let me give you my info.

I recently relowered my car (3rd time lowering) w/ Nex Full coil over SS suspension. I did not notice the sound untill I did this.

One would think, "well, you just put on your suspension, its probably the supension thats making the noise, POS NEX!" Not the truth, the suspension is still sweet, as I took the time to swap the fronts (right to left, left to right), and the sound still comes from the front left, meaning its something in the drive train. I am expecting this to be a problem somewhere in the drive shaft, CV boot, or Tranny.

I will be dropping my car off at the "stealership" to have it diagnosed tomorow. I should have further info, as far as what the problem is by tuesday COB (Close of business).

Anyone that has had this problem find out what it was? I am hoping its only a cv joint, and not the tranny. After I take off, everything seems to be fine, untill I downshift. The problem does not appear to be getting worse/louder, but I am concerned as I travel 120 miles round trip to work on Sat/Sun.

I believe this problem to be caused when I hit a pot hole w/ my Tein lowering springs on, and bend a rim, meaning it was hard enough to probably break something else, but if that was the case, how come I didnt notice untill I lowered the car w/ my new suspension? I had the stock suspension back on the car for 5 months w/ out a sound... the sound is noticable, something I would notice even if the car was NOT lowered.

Could it be the angle of the axle comming out of the Diferencial? (spelling) I noticed the sound the 2nd day i had the suspension on, and I didnt hit ANY bumps yet...

I will let you all know on tuesday how much $$ will be stolen from me for repairs, as I feel they wont cover under waranty due to the lowering of the car.

If you have any further info, or troubleshooting steps I can take (Already swapped suspension to make sure) I would be very pleased.

Thanks Evo M pplz!

Not possible, if so, I would hear the sound from the middle of the car when standing in front of the car dead center... It is definately comming from the tranny side of the engine....

My kamikazee used to hit now and then, so i went back to stock :-( not to mention the damn CEL, just plain irritating.... definately miss the power gain though.

This is great... dealership tried to yank my chain twice....

I drop it off @ 8:30 am. They call me at 11, and tell me that it was a loose wheel weight that had come lose. They replaced it and the sound was gone. I called BS, and went down there, sure enough, the sound was there. Left the car.

I get a call @ about 4, and they say that the front sway bar was lose, and they tightened it down. I said " Is the sound gone?" He said "well its all aftermarket stuff down there!" I told him "its only the coil overs that are aftermarket, and if I have to take the car home, put the stock struts/springs on, I am going to be one PISSED off customer."

I ended up going and talking to the service manager, told him about the issue, let him know that i already swapped the aftermarket suspension to the other side of the car, and the sound remains on the driver side.

They are now going to keep the car overnight for further trouble shooting. They are NOW going to use the allignment rack to track down the sound.

They should have used the drive on rack first, as there is no way to make the sound when the wheels are off the ground....

Mitsubishi service sucks.

I will update tomorow.

should have brought it to a tuner shop. They have the right to blame it on your suspension since it aftermarket, and void suspension warranty. I never bring my car in anymore for stuff at Mitsu...they see an intake/exhaust they freak out and blame everything on that.

Good luck with Mitsu! Hope you fix the problem. I have a similar problem in my left rear with my Tein Basics. I'm gonna have to bring it in to cousin mechanic to see what's up.

The fact of the matter is, I asked them to find the problem, not to tell me what I already knew.... if they dont find the problem, I dont pay, If they find the problem, and its waranty, i dont pay, if they find the problem, and not just say "you have aftermarket suspension" and its not waranty, Ill take it somewhere else to get it fixed... I need to make sure it is/isnt a waranty item.... If the problem is transmission, its covered... its definately drive train, somewhere from transmission to wheel, but what part is the question.

Sweet, picked up my car, the CV half shaft was replaced, due to the bearings being warped. This was replaced under waranty, which it shouldnt have been.. but due to 2 misdiagnosis' I was able to get it replaced for FREE!!! w00 h000, not only that, i got a freebee for them to tighten up the whole front end... 110% better!

I don't know if this helps but i recently did my wheel bearings and while enjoying my time playin in all that grease i noticed that one of the bolts from the front "end link" i think was snapped and i have been getting the clunk as well due to the cars weight dramatically shifting over bumps, from reverse to drive that sort of thing as well as slowly around bumpy corners such as rough parking lots. I heard this annoying clunk sound..... Anyway there's my to cents......Oh and if this doesn't help sorry I'm canadian LMAO!!
