well its not an external issue....i took it to a shop that knows there Trannys.....they said its most likey not the gears....but the clutch/pressure plate or thorwout bearing....i rule out the clutch and pressure plate becuse....the pedal feels the same...clutch MIGHT be out...but it only has 15000 miles on so i dont think it is that....never launch the car or anything that bad....so i and my friend think its the throwout bearing because it has been rattling for sometime....the shop thinks it might have got stuck in/to the pressure plate....and plus i remember reading that Mits. has relesded a better version of the TOB. so hopefully that is whats wrong....they goin to call tommorw and ill post what up what they say......THNX for the help

Is the clutch a hydraulic unit? If so, it's pretty common for this to occur when the clutch fluid is low. Looks just like a brake fluid resorvoir, but it's near the cluth pedal inside the engine compartment.

bumping this to find an update.
what's the word with the clutch. i'm on my 2nd ACT stage II clutch. again the disc is fine. i bent the fingers on the PP, almost ground a hole in them with the TOB, snapped off the bottom coil on a spring, chipped the others.....yeah a lot of abuse. if you still have the clutch on your hands i would really be interested in pics.

mine didn't blow out from hard launches...they said i shift too quick, hard, and 'chirp too many gears'....yeah. if you did the install yourself (like i did) ACT will wash their hands of you. (unless you are a certified shop) IT IS VERY LIKELY that you did not torque the assembly onto the flywheel properly. after a couple of harder days on the car the pressure plate starts to "potato chip."

picture the clutch disc in it's normal position. now take a little bit out of the springs, bend those fingers a bit, and a put a couple hot spots on your flywheel. when you go to engage/disengage the clutch only part of the disc will back off the fly. thus the car will 'stay in gear.'
