Works Stage 1 Clutch Review
Alright I got my clutch installed on Friday after close to two months of waiting (got it for my birthday at the beginning of December). Figured I'd give a review for those thinking about the same kit.
Day 1 (Friday)
After picking up the car from the garage it didn't feel any different in terms of pedal pressure. Despite what my sister had told me I didn't actually need a new clutch, and apparently the mechanics all had a chuckle at how identical my clutch looked to the new one (I put 54000 km on my old clutch and for the first few thousand I was still learning how to drive manual). Anyways, once I started driving the car I did notice that the clutch did chatter quite a bit when leaving from a stop and even up to 2nd gear. This should go away however as the clutch gets worn in. I didn't stall the car at all on the way home so its by no means too grabby.
I went out later Friday night and the first thing I noticed after getting into the car was how stiff the pedal was. This went away after a few minutes of driving though. The clutch does smell somewhat but its not horrible (unless you suck at driving of course).
Day 2 (Saturday)
Clutch felt basically the same, still chattering and still smelling.
Day 3 (Monday)
The pedal was a little stiffer from stock, but not a big deal. It was still chattering but its not nearly as much as on day 1. The car seems to be a little quicker and you can really notice the torque steer if you stamp on it, much to my surprise.
Day 4 (Today)
The chattering is almost gone and it seems as if the clutch has settled into a nice, and ust slightly stiffer state. It grabs very nicely but is still stock in terms of ease of creeping and such forth. I had a bit of a shock today leaving a stand still at an intersection and having my tires just spin to the point of having to back off the throttle.
Overall I would definitely recommend this clutch to anyone looking for a nice but not over the top upgrade in terms of friction and pedal pressure. It only cost me 400$ CAD and 2 cases of Moosehead to get it installed since my soon to be brother-in law did it at a local pontiac dealership here. At the same time he also flushed my brakes and clutch fluid and flushed my transmission replacing the fluid with GM synchromesh (which is great, better than the BG synchroshift I had in before).

when i put my WORKS stage 2 / lightweight flywheel in .
i consulted with the guys over at WORKS and they recomended that i drive it very modestly for like 500-1000 miles, it takes a little bit to break in but they are great clutches . at first when i put it in though if i wasnt careful i could make the clutch slip easy , not anymore though, but mine never smelled during break in..

Hey take it easy on your clutch until you pass about 1000 miles. You shouldn't have tried to really get on it yet. The best way to preserve the life of the clutch is to take it easy during the break in and let it set in just like new brakes, or a new car.
