If memory serves, I think so.

I think somebody was drag racing and slammed it too hard.

When you see how they are made, I don't understand how it would be weaker than a more expensive one. literally, it's a metal bar.

I've had mine for around 2years now and don't regret it.

At first I did have problems with the shifter not getting back into place properly when put in neutral... and guess what. It was an installation mistake.

And I don't think anyone can break that thing while shifting. Even shifting really really hard. Our tranny is "cable" operated. The cable, or the shifter housing will break way before the shifter it-self.

(Bringing back an old thread)

So most say the ebay shifters are good.. I am thinking of getting one for our 02.

As for snaping it.. I'd have to see pics to believe that.. Plus ours is a family car.. No track or racing..

So basically I should be good with an ebay shifter.. There are different ones.. Anyone have an opinion on which is best?

this one is a total $22
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/02-05...74357437QQrdZ1

and here is one total of $34
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/02-03...74407281QQrdZ1

Ya I'm a noob to the lancers.. I did search and still am searching to find more info..

Also do these short throw shifters shorten the length of the shaft? Meaning make the knob sit lower? I think the Lancers shift lever is a little to long and would like to shorten it up a bit.
Thanx for the opinions..

UPDATE: My eBay shifter is fine now, centers on its own. I guess it was just a matter of everything get used to everything or something? I dunno what I'm talking about, but my eBay shifter is fine now.

I don't know about either of those, but the one I got was around 23 shipped and it was slightly curved.

They used to come with knobs for less than $25 to your door.

The seller is not a registered user on Ebay anymore. This was like 3 years ago when they first showed up.

Ah.. Damn.. Guess the 22 without the knob would be the way to go..

We have an aftermarket knob already, but my wife wants a black one.. Not the shiny red kind we have now.
