Short throw

Ive been reading a lot on the short throw shifters. Some need modifications, some need new bushings, some need new parts, and some just bolt right on. I have an 05 Lancer don't have too much money. So far i put a 30$ Bomz sri , and am looking for a short throw shifter.

Ebay sts

thats the one i want to buy. For installation do you guys think ill be needing any new bushings or anything besides the oil for lubrication.

I'm not into spending hundreds of $ on a B&M shifter when i could get this for 40$ shipped.

WHat do you guys think?

If you buy an Ebay shifter, expect ebay quality.

Honestly, I suggest you do what I do...just wait. I could buy a bomz cai or sri for 30 bucks, but ive heard nothing but bad things about them. I could buy a $40 short shifter but I'm gonna wait and wait because when i DO have the money (saving slowly) I know I will be a lot happier with a good product

I got an eBay shifter and I hate it! haha, it's okay though, I hated stock too! Go ahead and get it, but remember what Amby said. I was just ready to deal with the bad quality.

just get an ebay shifter, its only $30, if you're disappointed, then you can stick it out. its not that bad, as long as you do the install correctly. i've had no problems with mine and i've had it for over a year.

I dunno, it doesn't center anymore. I think because it is too thick, or heavy or something. The little centering spring isn't strong enough to push it back. So I took it all apart and put the stock one back in to see if I messed anything up. Stock shifter popped back just fine, so I figured it was the eBay shifter.

Well after using both the B&M Short Shifter Kit and the Authority Short Shifter Kit, I can tell you with out a doubt, "The Authority Short Shifter Kit" is the "Best Bang for the Buck"!!!

B&M Short Throw Shifter Non Adjustable - Cost $140.00.

The Kit includes detailed instructions. WOW "detailed instructions"

Now add 8pc Stiff Shifter Bushings Kit - Cost $28.00.

Now add 2pc Under-hood Stiff Bushings Kit - Cost $27.00.

Your going to need an OEM EVO Shifter Retainer - Cost $16.00. Well you can re-use the stock one if you cut the Stock Shifter in half.

I almost forgot, NO B&M Shift Knob! But thats OK, you can use your Stock Knob. You could spend $20.00 to $130.00 on a nice counter weighted Shift Knob.

Authority Short Shifter Kit - Cost $110.00

The Kit includes "A Nice" counter weighted Shift Knob, shifter retainer, 2pc under hood bushings, and the 8pc in car shifter bushings.

I will be posting up some install pictures in the next few weeks...

In this case that quality is GOOD. I have about 3 faultless years out of mine. The chrome shift knob it came with is full of fine scratches but who cares.

I went Kartboy all the way. It's a known quantity. If you go eBay, you might get a great one like airlinevomitbag, or you might get a crappy one that snaps.
