Second: It will mess it up the tranny........like i said before and will say it again, you can use any fluid for MANUAL tranny but not for AUTO. Do some research before giving people wrong suggestions/ideas to fu(k up their car.

Also keep this in mind, i am not suggesting people to use mitsu recommended parts all the time, there are always some exceptions such as tranny fluid that we are talking about.

Before you say i am posting the wrong information, i recommend u use the search with the keyword "ATF" and see what others have to say. Dont tell me that other people are wrong and u are the only one right.

I was not telling people to do this at home.....i was just suggesting them that it is not really that hard. If you can't be cautious and are afraid of little sh1tt like chaning oil and fluids that than u shouldnt be into modding your car.

Do i need to say more?????????

There is no point in arguing with stupid people as they bring u down to their level and beat you with their experience............that is what u are doing.
The location of the drain bolt that I mentioned was for MT, I was adding it to the thread so people with MTs would have a better idea of where it was.
You clearly don't have any understanding of fluid ratings because GL and SAE ratings are what should be compared to determine if a fluid appropriate for your car, after that rating it's a matter of the results you get and what you prefer- just like other fluids. Does that mean all properly rated fluids are good? Obviously not, but does it mean there is only one brand that can do the job? No. If people have chosen to dump improperly rated fluid into their transmission that's not cause for ruling out every other type of automatic transmission fluid for the car. The idea that Mitsubishi is the only company capable of producing usable fluid for the base model lancers is ignorant and propagates bull**** "car myth" on the forums.

I am not saying this is bad, wrong, or incorrect at all. Using the factory fluids for a car is the safest default you can have. My problem is when the person who started this thread made a blanket statement that no other fluid could be used without damaging the Lancer AT.

why are you guys arguing for?

Use whatever you want to use in your car! lol... As for me being quoted in page one regarding Diamond Fluid, it's recommended for power-steering. Someone used something else and it ended up messing his entire steering unit. So, power-steering, use dealership stuff. < Off topic..lol

As for your Tranny. If any of the products that are out there didn't work, they wouldn't sell it or market it.
It's just like engine oil.... Everyone on this board uses something different. Either from past experiences to affordability.

oh, if you're using a certain oil/fluid and have had no problems, why change it? Stay w/ what you have. But, don't be scared to try new things! you can always flush and start all over again!

Removed the excedingly rude portions of Offender's post and left the meat of it.

GL-5 is the recommended oil. Any oil as long as it reads GL-5 or exceeds it can be used.

Royal Purple is fine for your engine. Use Mitsu recommened fluid for the tranny though.

Ok...first of all thanks for letting me know that the drain plug is on the left hand side. I was going to do a flush but a few drains and refills should literally the same idea.

So can someone answer this question...who has used other fluid for the Auto Tranny besides the dealer stuff? I have used Amsoil before in my volvo and it was an automatic...no problem what so ever.

What type of fluid is in the AT?
