You might have a few teeth missing from first gear. Just a thought. Or an unbalanced syncro.

if its an issue with the syncro it usually will chatter or be tough getting it into and/or in-between gears.

no chatter and not hard to get into gear, so nota syncro. if im missing a few teeth can i just replace the clutch and not pressure plate and throwout? i really am out of ideas too, and several import garage friends are at a loss too. . . . someone help i need this problem fixed?

If you are missing a few teeth, a new clutch won't fix it.

If you damage a piston, you don't buy new rods.

what he IYI0521 was originaly saying was that you might be missing a few teeth on 1st gear, inside the tranny. your flywheel should be fine.

comatose has it right. iyi0521 was talking about the 1st gear inside the tranny.

IF THAT'S THE PROBLEM.

Which we aren't sure. It's an Internet forum, we're throwing out ideas. You'd need a real mechanic to figure out what's wrong. All you're getting here are guesses.

Not so sure that actually the problem tho. When i ate first in my Civic 1st 3rd and 5th all chattered a little. If its just 1st then thats probably not the problem.
