Question auto/manual final drive compatiable?

I looked up the specs on the final drive gear ratio on the auto vs manual. The auto was 4.04ish and the manual was 3.62ish (can't reamber exactily). I was wondering if any one knew if I could swap the auto final drive into the manual. I have spare of both trannies but if there not compatiable I would like to sell the auto untouched. The lower gear ratio would make me happier! Thanks in advance for the knowlage not the guess's.

to avoid sounding like a noob I found my paper with the gear ratios. The final drive for the manual is 3.722 and for the auto it is 4.041. If anyone knows where I could find an exploded diagram for the two transmissions that would be vary helpful.

Good, question... But it'd be hard to believe the gears would interchangeable. But props for even thinking about it ! We do this all the time on turbo'd Honda trannys, so why not the Lancers?

HIGHLY doubt it. The gears all work together, so I can't imagine that you could slap one in and expect it to work.

I think you'd have better luck getting a hold of the final drive gear out of a Ralliart; it's more likely to be interchangeable, and that'll get you a 4.05 ratio.

Is that the final drive ratio for the auto or the man. Thanks for pointing that out, I forgot about the Ralliart. My problem is that i allready have a spear auto from a lancer LS. I traded some for work a spare motor and the trannie came with it.
