act/clutchmasters install w/part numbers

Hey guys I know I recently posted that my clutch was slipping and I wanted to keep you guys up to date on everything. First and foremost, I installed an ACT clutch and pressure plate (xtreme 2100 lbs) along with a Clutchmasters flywheel.

ACT Clutch Kit part number: MB3XTSS
Specifically, if you don't buy the kit...
ACT Clutch part number: 3000301
ACT Pressure plate part number: MB-012X
Clutchmasters flywheel: FW-632-AL

The ACT parts were for a mirage and the clutchmasters parts were from an eclipse, I think. Just look up the part numbers on a catalog and you will see what vehicles they correspond to, even though they aren't ours.

The install went fairly well. First on the flywheel. The teeth are evenly spaced and fit in accordance to our starter. However, the inside diameter is off just by a little bit. So, I hat to use a carbide bit to cut a lil off (i mean mm). The other problem with the flywheel is the depth. In order to get the right depth (spacing) to fit, you have to get rid of the 2 big spacers. That is it and it fits perfectly.

For the Clutch: No modding necessary.
For the Pressure plate: The holes need to be drilled out a little bit to fit onto the flywheel. I think this is due to the pressure plate being powdercoating, or something to that sort.

In any case, the car is running well. There is a slight chatter when driving in first or on idle. However, it chatters only sometimes and for a short period of time. It never chatters at high speeds or other gears. Acceleration is a little bit quicker, however, I can't go into great details because I am taking it slow, due to the 500 mile break in period. Pedal feels stiffer but it is bearable. However, if you do test drive it for a long distance you will feel slight leg fatigue. I actually like this because it feels like I actually made a difference. Engagement is quicker and there is a reduction on pedal on how much you can ride the clutch. I don't know if that makes sense but it is late and I just wanted to give you guys a heads up on how everything is going. I already put at least 30 miles on and it feels good.

Also, I don't know if I can post pics because I am really busy.

when you say chatter, do you mean it makes a sort of ticking noise like say in neutral?

well when you say it doesnt do it at high speeds, is it just because you cant hear it or what? ive noticed that mine is making a ticking sound now and its basically the same setup you have. does it when its in neutral, doesnt do it when clutch is engaged. havent gotten to test it in gear or at speed. any more info on your part would be very helpful to me. thanks.

How does your setup differ from mine? Mine does it occasionally when I am in neutral at idle. To my knowledge it doesn't do it at high speeds and I have good ears when it comes to sounds on my car. As soon as something changes I'll let you know. I am sitting at about 50 miles right now, I think.

im running ACT 6 pad clutch disk as well as heavy duty pressure plate (not sure what model numbers are) as well as WORKS flywheel. i have not and will not be able to test mine in any gear besides first and second or at any speed abobe 20mph for a while. but i doubt i would be able to hear anything because my car is quite loud.

Well, I have about 150 miles on the clutch now. I haven't dumped it, or ran it agressively yet. I did take it up to 6.4 lbs of boost on 5th gear just to test it out. Chattering or any noise isn't evident anymore in any of the gears. Acceleration is great! My car seems to spool faster. Lastly, the clutch feel isn't as hard. I don't know if I am getting use to it or it is lightening up, ah well. I can't wait until 500 miles and then I'll push it a lil.

I have approximately 400 miles on the clutch/flywheel/pressure plate/TOB and everything is still going strong. I am driving my car a little harder every day now and I actually dropped it down to 4th on the freeway against an engine swapped B18 hatch and it handle it pretty well.
I haven't launched or done any hard shifts while go through my cars, though. However, my shifting is getting quicker. I can't wait until 500 miles.

Organic clutches shouldn't chatter.

If the car makes noise when in neutral, but not when the clutch is engaged, that's actually to do with the heatshield over part of your muffler... Just remove it and the noise will be gone. It's probably rusted and vibrating off of your car.

I want to but ACT unit "Heavy Duty PP w/ Hybrid Street Disc Kit" but it doesn't come with bearing. Where can I get them?

Where you guys bought your kit? $328.39 at nippon is not that bad.

I did some searching and I see that some people say that 4g93 clutches can be used on 4g94 clutches. Is that true? I just want to make sure before I buy the damn thing.

I only thinking about their clutch because it's cheaper and comes with the bearing.
