I tried all possible combination and it worked perfectly fine . I am glad mine is fine . I think you should get your dealer to check your car it might be a faulty sensor. Good Luck

Given the sample size (2), I'd say it is still something that anyone buying a GTS should check and be cautious about. If no one else - or only a few - have the problem, than yes, it's isolated. But I would think it dangerous to assume that.

when ur on manual mode u can only use the stick to pop it into D. IF u are on auto and use the paddle u can go to D anytime by pulling and holding the right paddle towards you. but yeah i tried different speed and combo. works find for me

If you can replicate it then show it to your dealership. It's something that will need to be fixed, probably with a flash.

I was told by the salesman, not that he is right, that the system won't let you over-rev the engine and tranny.

Okay, I tested today. I cannot get the OP's situation to happen to me. Using the manumatic I can't seem to break redline and when popping in and out of MM and Auto it goes into the most logical reving gear for the conditions. When I hit the paddle shifter it shifts up or down (depening on paddle depressed) from D into the most logical gear (or two down if I double tap downshift)... if I go back to auto using either the stick or by depressing the right paddle for a sec or two it goes right back to auto, and if I hit the paddle again from auto afterwards it drops back into the most optimal gear choice for conditions.

Just for my own follow up - when I went by yesterday to talk to the dealer, I went ahead and test drove a GTS again. I tried to repeat this, each time the car shifted into the correct gear when I turned it back from D to manual.

Picking up my new "baby" tomorrow, we'll give it a thorough testing on the way home!

I can't get my new baby to repeat this, it handles just like it should. But I did see in the owners manual that if you pull down a little too hard on the shift lever that it will shift down 2 gears (from 3rd to 1st or 4th to 2nd are the examples given). Could this be part of it?

maybe, I remember when I test drove one with paddles that I did not have to push them that hard at all, just a slight tap did it....

Did not have this problem at all. When I go back into Manual, it's at the gearing that it should be at.

The whole point of the paddle shifter is to hold the seleted gear. This means you can engine break, or hold your RPM's till redline. If you need to downshift, it will let you select the right gear that right up to redline...This allows you to hold that gear.

Never happened to mine. I was going up the feeder of hwy59, going around.. 40~ish, (around 3rd gear via paddle shifting), pulled the stick to Automatic and drove like a mad man down the freeway. After hitting about.. 80 or so, making sure that I wont blow up my tranny, I start slowing down via coasting. If I remember correctly, I had to hold the down shifter to shift back into Manual, as the post above stated that I should be in 3rd gear, I was actually set in 6th, setting down to 5th due to coasting.

It might be an error in your CVT software. Might wanna head to the dealies about that if it occurs again. :x
