03' OZ rally Clutch

Ok well i need a clutch kit. I have a '03 red OZ rally and one day i was just having problems with shifting. Took it to carmax (which is where i got it) and they said i needed an entire clutch kit blah blah. It has nearly 50k on it, (Bought it at 20k so i suppose the person before screwed it up) So basically i was just planning on getting a regular clutch from http://autozone.com/R,APP354719/vehi...ductDetail.htm
since i dont know how to repair it myself my stepdad is doing it but i cant find any repair manuals etc. Im trying to keep costs LOW and this seems the best approach.
Any advice/help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Welcome and it's always funner to DIY! Plus save $$$... Their isn't any How-tos on this site for the clutch, but someone might give some pointers.

Best of luck!

Yeah, I just found out today... (I knew already before this though) That I need a new clutch

Going to run me $950 at the mitsu dealer.

I may look into an aftermarket one though.

For 950$ you could get a great aftermarket clutch.

ya dealers are gonna charge you too much money. get aftermarket clutch instead. i was going to buy an ACT clutch for my tsi and the shops here charge around 450 to install im assuming it might be cheaper for a lancer.

Yeah, I know... its what i HOPEFULLY plan on doing.

I know there are plenty of online sights and ive been searching. I know act makes one and Ive checked rrm's website. All i would need to go along with rrms are the throwout bearings right?

I got a quote of $1300 from carmax, didnt check the mitsu dealer. Im just going to the the clutch at autozone, $350 and install it with my stepdad. Should be a learning experience...
But really, what contributes to the clutch going out? I had the fluid changed in december, im assuming it was the previous owner because i dont ride the clutch often. Big pain in the A** thats for sure
