problem with auto tranny!?

Ok, I have an automatic es, and i think there might be a problem with my tranny. When I'm going uphill, and i am at a stop, my car rolls backward while it's still in drive. I'm not completely certain, but I'm pretty sure it isn't supposed to do this. Another problem is when I'm in park, and i jack up the rear end of the car, with a slight incline uch as on a driveway, the car rolls forward. Please help me out so I don't go to the dealer for no reason at all. Thanx

theres nothing wrong with your car..when going uphill...theres not too much hp going from 0mph-2mph..sooooo you car naturally rolls a bit backwards(gravity)...and, when you jack up the car, your wheels will roll just barely in the front until the parking lock kicks in on the tranny. dont worry about it, all these things are normal!!.. the car will naturally roll because the engine wont makes the revs so high in idle so that it keeps you in the same spot on a hill forever(its just a machine trying to make you go foward when you push the gas).

All I can say is that my auto has not rolled backwards on a hill. Some slight inclines it'll still want to go forward, so have to press the brake. I've never been on any extreme inclines, so maybe that's what it is?

Edit: Checked this out the other day at my Dad's, he has a very steep driveway... yes it's normal for the car to roll backwards on a steep incline.

If the incline is severe enough and you're not gassing it or braking, gravity will kindly pull you downhill. Nothing wrong with your tranny. Just the law of physics.

I think your fine, just make sure your fluid level is good in trans.
If you are low on fluid there may not be eough in the torgue converter to stall the car on an incline.
To check the fluid, make sure car is warmed up, on level ground in park.

why are you letting it roll anyway? What kind of hills are you on. This mostly happens to me when im in Tijuana Mexico, there is this one hill thats just a biach. I never really thought it was abnormal cuz my last car did the same thing.
