Transmission Problems
I'm having a wierd problem with my tranny. Lately after I start my car to go home every time I let out the clutch, in neutral, the car will start inching forward. When I put the car in reverse and depress the clutch in to shift back to neutral it fights me and wants to roll forward. Does anyone have any thoughts as to why this is happening? I had an ACT clutch installed about 17,000 miles ago with no issues. How can the car pull forward while in neutral? The only way I can combat this is to depress the clutch and wait until the car warms up and then the problem stops.

My fluids were changed with BG synchromesh so it's not stock. Maybe that's the problem though. I just think it's wierd that the car feels like it's engaging some gear when it's in neutral. I'm not a tranny guru but since the gears are all meshed constantly then maybe it could be the TOB? What do you guys think about that? I'm waiting for a call back from the guy who installed the clutch but I have a feeling he'll just tell me to bring it in, which I don't have time to do.
No it has nothing to do with the TOB. The TOB if causing a load would only put load on the tranny case, not the gears, axles, etc. When the TOB is bad it makes horible noises that get transmitted through the case, clutch pedal etc and believe me, you hear it and feel it. It is not clutch related. If you are in neutral and the clutch pedal is up, then the engine and transmission shaft are fully connected already. There is no way for the clutch to affect it any further than that. The transmission does the rest. In neutral the bearings inside the trans should be spinning and prevent the tires from spinning.

This sounds like a clear-cut case of your clutch not fully disengaging. Have you ever adjusted the clutch pedal height? Before hunting down ghosts that don't exist, try raising your clutch pedal up some. I don't have the time to walk you through it, but it involves loosening a nut and rotating a rod behind the clutch pedal. It's not hard and would take 5 minutes.

In reverse it still wants to go forward. If I accelerate in reverse the car feels like the e brake is up when I depress the clutch. I did adjust the clutch about 17,000 miles ago and it's never done this. It only started when it got really cold recently here in Texas. I tried to adjust the clutch again to rule that out but the damn locking nut wouldn't budge and it was 30 degrees outside so I said screw it and waited until the car warmed up and it stopped. My clutch engagement is pretty high but I adjusted it that way so I wouldn't have problems with the clutch not engaging all the way.
