haha i am the opposite, I got OCD when it comes to my toys (especially expensive ones) so leave it to me to notice everything. I am starting to think that is jsut the normal flow of the car. It occurs in most automatics when slowing down because they are changing gears but I was surprised to notice it with the CVT. Although its not a huge thrust forward or anything like that, it just feels like ooooh the car still wants to go. Anyways, keep posting everyone and see if we can get a solid conclusion.

Btw, do your cars also pull to the left... i know there is a thread on this, but mine is pulling as well. Was there ever a solution on how to fix this?

My lancer has done this since day one. I thought it was a bit odd at first, but it always does this around the same speed/rpm (Below 10mph), so I have a feeling its normal CVT feeling.

Oh ok good, I thought it was just me, I am feeling alot better that others are feeling the same thing. Now watch, someone with CVT will say they dont feel a thing.

anyone else know what makes this happen?

Ive noticed that when i take my foot off the gas it has an engine breaking feel (which is fine) but as I am slowing it feels like its dropping its "gear" and the car feels like its learching forward a bit like it still wants to go. I know there are pulleys and not gears but i was surprised by the CTV to feel like it is dropping gears when breaking. Do you guys feel this at all? Is it normal?
What i think your describing is something that is normal. if i under stood it right. Remember depending on how you drive your Transmissions ECU will adapt itself to your style. to truely anticipate your habits. there is a float factor between full gear engagement and disengagment. It shouldnt feel like a hard lurch but you should feel something different when you take your foot off the gas a low speeds. because under a certain speed certain parameters can not be held. its similar to the effect of having your CVT transmission in manual mode and forgetting to shift down as you slow down. you will notice the computer will shift the number down if the speed falls too low for the appropate gear. Now as for D mode, sometime similar happens that causes the transmission to act.

I am more aware of what my engine/transmission is doing now due to the install of my aftermarket exhaust, you can hear the tone in the cabin, so its possible to hear at what point the transmission disengages.

pretty cool

i hope that helps

That helped a bunch, thank you very much for your reply. I had a feeling that it was normal but it just made me a little nervous since i just got it. I was under the impression that in CVT you shouldnt feel anything, but like i had said, it wasnt a huge thrust forward, but a change from engine breaking to "hey lets go".

Anyway, thanks again for the response!
