Clutch Question?
Clutch Question?
Well tonight I let my friend drive my car, who can drive a stick just not very well.. Anyways like everyone else who has driven my car he thought 3rd was 1st and well revved high it and let out the clutch slow enough so it wouldn't stall in traffic
... When we got out of the car I could smell the clutch right when i opened my door. I drove it back to my house after dropping him off and the car drives fine no slipping or anything i noticed and i drove it nicely... When I got home I could only smell it when I stuck my face to the grill of the car, not like before haha...
This is my first MT car, so I'm just curious will the clutch be ok? (I remember reading somewhere that if you shift into 5th and floor it at a low speed and there is no kind of slipping, your clutch is fine) So I tried that and it was fine.. I guess? I have 63K on the car and the clutch was replaced by the orginal owner at about 54K... So did I just have a chunk of life taken from the clutch?
Thanks guys
Sorry for the long post

answer is yes, you took a chunk of life off the clutch, and yeah, i've had that happen to me too, when someone else drove it around the block..
Go easy on the clutch for a few days, you don't want any of the "glazing" to set in. so no Power launches etc.
btw, I have 50k on my stock clutch.

I had a similar problem with my OZ Rally. I let a friend drive it, he railed the crap out of my Works clutch...I thought it was gone, but its ok now. Lesson learned: I never let anyone drive my car, lol.
yeah bun letting people drive your car. same situation. many times. my clutch finally gave out to major slippage at around 118k. my stage 3 clutchmasters is NIIICCCEE tho. highly recommended if that does become an issue.
