ROAD/RACE- CVT Trans Coolers.

Through our testing with these cars we have sort of un covered something. WE put an additional oil cooler on the CVT paddle Shifter trans. Seems that the car shifts harder than before. We were doing this for turbo reasons but N/A guys may benefit from this. ANyone interested in a Trans Cooler Kit?

can you explain a bit more? I'm not sure that I understand how this would benefit us N/A guys. Also, estimate price maybe.

Well it's suppose to help in situations where the cvt is too stressed. For example, if you were going to turbo, this will help the cvt chain from snapping under boost. He's also saying that with/without boost, there is an improvement when shifting gears.

I am! I hear that the main issue with the CVT+ Extra Power is the overheating of the CVT belt. So anything that helps keep it cool is definately a bonus.

I think its a good idea. a cooler cvt means a healthier belt over time. heat is the enemy!

I'd definitely like to see a trans oil cooler kit. I'm seriously considering turboing my gts cvt within the next few months (I have the $$, just waiting on some other circumstances), and anything to keep my trans from blowing up is well worth it I think.

If this is going to help the life of my trans and may provide better shifting, then I would definately consider this.

What would the price range be for the cooler?

Also, would it work on the 09 GTS'? I'm assuming they have the same transmission as the 08's do.

BAsically over heating causes belt to slip. We have worked on limiting this slipping when power is added to the car. We found differences between a hot and cold trans.

oh! ok so its ANY extra power added, not just turbo. like intake, exhaust, header, piggy, etc. sweet!

question, we already established that the turbo does not like D on the CVT, only sport mode, right? but in another discussion we established that N/A, D is faster, it just FEELS faster in sport. So with the trans cooler on have you guys been able to keep her in D?

good job bye the way! you guys are really thinking forward over there.

Trans cooler sounds like a good idea! +1 for the expected price though.

I just love how ALL of RRM's posts are "we feel it" "we've noticed" "we found differences"

GIVE US SOME COLD HARD DYNOS! or atleast something Consider i'd like to turbo my CVT in the future this would probably be a definite buy, pending price and ease of installation.
