Ralliart axles???

So Ive got an 02 oz that I slammed to the ground. I have a full set of megan coilovers on it. Well, when I lowered it, it ate through my cv boots because the shock stuck so far out of the base. When I took it in to get it looked at, they determined that my axles were bad anyways and needed to be replaced. My question is whether or not I can fit ralliart axles or modify them onto my car because I heard they were thicker or maybe just find a thicker axle. I would like to somehow put a slightly stronger axle on my car anyways due to near future massive power gains but ive searched the forum like ten times and cant find anything about axle swaps so maybe ours our strong enough??? I doubt it but figured Id ask all of you. Thanks.

You sound like this one kid in my undercar class, he's funny as hell.

But I think we have the same axles as the Ralliart, I was looking for part numbers on SumData and I think those were the same. I'm not 100% sure so can someone verify.

You can use the driver side axle, but not the passenger. The Ralliarts utilize an intermediate shaft for the passenger side axle.

So what would be the best route? Is there a different way that we can obtain stronger axles? Are the ralliart axles any stronger? Just curious cause Ill buy stock ones again but this guy at a local shop has me all worried that my axles will snap if I put a stage 3 clutch in my car and run 14 lbs of boost. By the way, just curious, maybe stupid question, but does anyone know if there is a hollow spot at the bottom of the shock where it was rubbing that would allow me to hack off an inch or so on the bottom or is the entire unit being used for dampening purposes?

First off, do NOT make any alterations to the bottom of your struts. They are pressurized and sealed. It's very unlikely your axles will snap on 14psi. Mirage owners worldwide run stock axles and push 450whp+ with no problems. If your axles are rubbing on your struts then you need to raise your ride height.

Thats what I figured thanks. Ive already raised the height a little to avoid any further damage but those boots are toast.
