Rough Shifting???
Rough Shifting???
I have 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer ES. Its got about 49000 on it. No major mods other than exhaust, short shifter (TPW) and lowered on Megan. I am having issues with shifting. If the engine is off the car will shift all gears no prob. When I drive though, I have to rev the engine to about 2500-3000 to allow for it to go into the gear. Sometimes I dont but it is very rough. I know it cant be tran. because there is no grinding noise. I thought for a while that it needs tranny fluid change but when I called dealership, they quoted me at 350 for tranny flush and said "there is some awesome (my ***) tranny fluid in it already that it doesnt need a flush untill 60000 miles instead of normal 30000. They also refused to flush it for me until then. So my other idea is that the shift cables are stretch and need to be adjusted. Or it could be my clutch pedal, however there is no adjustment (for clutch pedal) for 2008 lancer like on some cars.
Any suggestions. Please help as it is becoming a safety issue of not being able to shift specially on the freeway.
One other question. Does any one know if 08+ lancer have synchronic shifting? That might help to explain some of the issues.
Thank You All

Replace the tranny fluid urself. I did mine in about 20-30 min. Ohh and that special fluid in there...i doubt there was even 1 qt when i drained mine.
All you need is ramps or jack stands, 1qt hand pump (found at local auto store), oil pan, 24mm wrench (might be a 23, dont remember off hand).
Jack front of car up from both sides and put on jack stands. Remove the second plastic shield (clips and 10mm scres). Near the frame member on driver side is a large nut on the tranny case, remove and drain. On front of tranny there is another large nut (they look the same), remove to keep the oil from sloshing out. Mine still went everywhere so i recommend using a funnel to try to splash against and drain into the oil pan. Reinstall lower nut. Fit the hand pump on ur choice of tranny fluid, I used Royal Purple 75W90. I know it doesnt match our spec, but doesnt matter much. Shove the hose into the hole in the front and finagle to the side so that it stays in. Pump in 2 and a half quarts, put nut back in place. Lower car and ur good to go.
Tranny feels much better after I replaced my oil.
