Stuck Manual transmission

My 2002 Lancer OZ rally has bean acting weird this past month, every morning when I try to engage second gear it takes a lot of effort and when I downshift it's quasi impossible to go into second gear and the weirdest thing is that after 20 minutes on the freeway the problem goes away. Please help!!

Just into second, and it seams that after 30 minutes or so it goes away.

Same problem here. Been like that since the day I drove away from the dealer's lot. Even my "new" trans does it. When cold, the synchros don't work to well for 2nd gear. If you want to make it easier to get into 2nd gear when this happens, try to rev match and it should make things smoother. Just gas it up a little and shift. Or get out of 1st at higher rpm and goes straight into 3rd.

I was going to suggest new synchros. 2nd gear is where most sychros "align" Basically reset to say when your parked. Anytime a problem like this happens when 2nd gear is the only issue alot of times those sychros are going bad

Thanks for the suggestions and my mechanical engineer friend confirmed that it was the synchro, and I tried double clutching works to! So until I can get a better transmission it will do.

I have a very similar issue with my car, but its with 1st gear. It will just not go in at all unless the car is at a 100% rolling stop. 1 MPH, it won't work.

I get that too. I think it's actually a good thing. It keeps people from going into 1st by mistake.

Yeah, I can see that. But I mean when you're going into a parking lot, and need to shift into 1st because you're going too slow, its irritating. I've never had this issue with my 89 F-250, my friends 09 Honda Civic Si, nor my friends 2003 Audi A4 Quattro 1.8T. That is what makes me believe that the operation in first gear is out of tolerance.

It's seems that there is a synchro issue with the lancer gearboxes.
