Just FYI, found the problem relating to the starting issue. I took apart the steering column, and disconnected the clutch sensor to allow for testing. I held the key to the start position and started wiggling the wire/electrical clusters on the left side of the steering column opposite to the ignition. The one electrical ignition piece which turns on the inside when the key is turned seemed to have a loose connection. When I moved it the car started immediately. I disconnected the wire attachment, crimped the inside connections closer together, tightened everything back up and haven't had a problem since!

Thank you everyone for the input

Hello, I did figure out the problem. However not sure if it will be the same issue as with your car. The problem I had was a with an electrical module in the steering column. After disconnecting the clutch sensor for easy testing, I removed the steering column cover, held the key to the start position and wiggle each module on the left hand side, after doing so I found a module to have loose connectors as the car began to turn over once I moved the right module. So I took out the module, crimped/tightened the connectors on the inside, screwed it back into place and haven't had a problem since.

It seems all model lancers have this problem evos, ralliarts and the ozs.. What I found to work well was pushing the key further in the ignition cylinder and turning which would point to the key cylinder going bad. Hopes this helps some can try it and post their results. Could be other problems but I'm sure all models are cause by te same problem which hasn't been pinpointed just yet

Is your car manual or automatic, would it matter? Because I'm having the same problem with my car
