Transmission funny

Hey all,
2003 lancer OZ Rally

I bought it recently and had no issues until about 2 weeks ago.
The I have been able to shift into gear fairly easily but sometimes when I try to shift down (from 5th to 4th) the gears grind when I try to put it into 4th. 4th to 3rd and so on I get the same problem. I have been able to avoid the issue when it occurs by double clutching.
I have been told it might be a sychnronizer issue and I plan on replacing the transmission fluid in the next couple of days. But I would like any advice or guidance.
Thanks

It is possible that the clutch is beginning to become worn out. How many miles are on the vehicle? Do you know when it was last changed out?

Tranny fluid is the best place to start. I had issues with my trans and all were solved by swapping to Redline MTL.
