ok, so someone PMed me and said that I should run dino oil in it for liek the first 500-1000 miles to break in my new tranny..... how does everyone feel about this?
I don't want to have to go through this ever again...
I already know to not drive like a moron, for a little while
and yes, I know I don't have an EVO even though I drive it like it is......

I'm from the 04-06 Ralliart section with Cranswick. My 2 cents, you don't want future problems, this is best advice for your tranny oil:

Also read this description from veteran supplier/builder:

I've never heard of that break-in advice for rebuilt tranny. Phone a trusted tranny rebuilder (see above) and ask them about this.
Doesn't it drive you nuts? You're being careful with research and stuff and yet all the b.s. out there in the world wide web just makes it all seem so difficult.

well, good thing I ordered MT90
I too, haven't heard anything about the break-in period. I mean I am sure there is one, as my clutch needs me to not drive like a moron for awhile as well, but... I mean the logic sounds good, I jsut don't know that I really want to try it....
As far as MT90, it stays pretty warm here year round... so I probably shouldn't be worried about it.... Temps here are 20-105*F all year..... and that low of 20* is a real stretch... of course, I might have some road trips to an area with snow... but honestly, it jsut doesn't get super cold here in the San Francisco Bay Area

so, I have been searching around on here, and a company called Team Rip says I should change the fluid after 500 miles....
http://teamrip.com/manual%20transmis...roceedure.html
CHANGING THE OIL: New or recently rebuilt transmissions should have the oil changed after the initial first 500 miles and then every 5000 miles.Vehicles that are being road raced require race car maintenance and all drivetrain oils should be inspected after each race and preferably changed. Contact TRE if you have questions about using a less expensive break-in oil.

Crans, I bought the 6-speed evo OEM stuff from RTM last year, and Peterborough Mitsubishi would have sold me a gallon of it too for about the same price.
The only gear "break-in" I know of is mating gear sets together by hand using a lapping compound. Ridiculous for common automotive applications.

so..... Jon @ TRE (team Rip) says:
"Any gear oil that is rated GL4 will work.
Ideally the viscosity should ranger between 75 to 90 weight."
when I asked if I should do a break-in on the new trans.....
