Manual transmission problems

My 2003 oz rally won't shift into 3rd or 4th gear. It will go into the spot for 3rd and 4th but acts like it is in neutral but it takes off in 3rd or 4th gear most times just fine so I'm wondering what might be wrong and if it can be fixed

Most likely your 3rd/4th shift fork is worn out, so it's not sliding the sleeve far enough to engage the gears. You need to disassemble the transmission to resolve the issue.

Wouldn't 3rd and 4th be gone completely if the shift fork was bad?

no, because 4th is where the engine is @ a 1:1 reduction to the gearbox..... the shift fork doesn't have to be off much for it to not shift properly..

this isn't going to be a simple fix, you are going to need a rebuild at the least....
