Clutch Question

Hey wuzzup everyone well just finished installing my new 6 puck clutch with New pressure plate and 8lb Flywheel. And now i was wondering was that the clutch pedal now has a little play in it. i know the clutch is hydraulic so i know the clutch will not be stiff and can't be adjusted but it seems to have more play then when i had the stock clutch in and now i have to actually press almost all the way down to really engage the clutch,Is this normal with a high performance setup or is something wrong???

did you bleed the clutch line after your install... you need to do that several times in order to get all the air out of the lines.

It takes two people usually. one to push the pedal in and let it out and one to open the bleeder. The bleeder is right by the slave cylinder... usually has a green rubber cover on it. It is a small zirc style fitting. I believe it is an 8mm. You just put the wrench on it and connect a small hose to the fitting. Run the hose into a container of some sort. Then have a bud push in the clutch. Open the bleeder a little but do it quickly... basically open and close. Then have your bud let out on the clutch. Watch the master cylinder level... keep it topped off. As you bleed the clutch you will be draining the master cylinder resevior. The reseviour has a baffle in it to seperate the clutch and brake sides. Keep that in mind as the clutch side is in the back and hard to see the level. You have to overfill the brake side so it pours over into the clutch side. That is the short and simple version. From there you should figure it out. Good luck.

first off, did you realize this thread is very old and your not answering the new question that came up?

now, to answer the new question: it all depends on what clutch it is, or what stage. on average though, its usually between 500-1000 miles. my act stage 2 from rrm saiys in act's instructions, 500 miles. its not necessary, but it help extend the life of the clutch, same thing as if you get new rotors, you have to break them in gradually to not eat them up, and warp them. i broke my clutch in for around 300 miles, usually you can tell when its broke in, my clutch started feeling broke in(pedal feels more like it did/should) around 200 miles, so i figured ill give it some extra help by waiting another 100 miles to get on it.
