Just installed cat pipe, muffler rattle?

I just installed my cat pipe yesterday, and now it sounds like a riced out honda . I got under the car and had a friend rev for me, sounds like the muffler but all the mounts are set. Its a stock muffler, should i replace it? Or is there anyway to fix this? I searched but only result was someone with problem of headers with rattle.

O yeah and also, i can smell a bit of "Stale" exhaust. Obviously more air is coming through but it still has a burnt smell as well, nothing is touching/burning. what else could it be?

the sound is having part of the test pipe in there, I've read a few posts where it's stated that it will cause that to happen, a diff muffler will help with that

Since you are complaining about sounding like a riced out Civic, you may want to get a high flow cat and ditch the test pipe. Another option would be to add another resonator into the piping.

The smell will be there without the second cat, because the cat is supposed to strain out all of the gases that make that smell.

Just for future reference, the test pipe and high-flow cat are not the same thing, and the terms are not interchangable. The test pipe does not have catalyst material inside of it, where as a high-flow cat does.

Just making sure you knew, and the RRM website is misleading and should be changed.

Sorry was @ college, but yes i am glad to hear that. Do you still have stock muffler? Also, i have Kamikazi headers, so maybe causing more air flow to stock muffler over powering it?

where did you get your kamikazi header and how much did you pay for it?

I got rid of the ricey sound by reinstalling the stock cat.... that also smoothed out my powerband (now I don't have to wait as long for power to kick in) and only cost me 1 hp at 5500 RPM....
I had mine on for almost 10K miles and it still sounded "ricey"

but, if you want to build the exhaust around the TP or are planning on turbo, then you might want to hang on to it for a while.

My solution to the ricey sound (installed at the time: RPW header+downpipe, rrm testpipe, rmr axleback) was to change all my piping to 2.5". The RPW header+downpipe is already 2.5" and I got a custom 2.5" testpipe done as well as a 2.5" catback. My exhaust is still a little on the high pitched side, but it's nowhere near as high pitched as when I had a lot of 2.25" piping.
