factory pant problems
Just like to know if any one else has a problem with there factory paint.
I've been looking at this for a long time when I looked it looks like there is no clear coat on the car because I can take my fingernail and barelly scratch the paint and it chips off
Just wounding if the company had a recall on this problem and if any one had this problem
thanks for the help

i don't have this prob. but ihave heard of others who have. i'm more of a mud on the tires than a show and shine guy, so no fancy bug and tar remover for me. if and when i DO was it, what doesn't scrub off gets scatched with a fingernail. paint stays, bugs go.
i've been told that my yellow Evo has "a one stage paint" and not the usual 2 stage with color, then clear. Does the yellow not come with clear? I know the red doesn't, but a body shop friend told me he couldn't take my vinyl decals off cuz the one stage paint would probably suffer damage from the chemicals they use to get rid of the residual adhesive... any info out there? thanks
Yes, most mitsubishi colors are single stage (with exception to the metallics, metallics HAVE to have clearcoat). To tell if your car has 2 stage, take any sandpaper and sand the surface of the paint in an inconspicious area. If the dust from sanding is white, you have a clearcoat... if it's the color of your car then you have a single stage. Regardless, mitsubishi's paint is CRAP... end of story.
