Engine Shut Off.. Why?
it sounds like there is a leak after the MAS in your intake system. I have had this problem multiple times due to ****ty ring clamps. check the rubber parts of your intake and look for any gaps or holes.

Good Luck. Make sure you actually look up the law as it reads and take in a copy. I'm sure you're local district court would be able to provide you with a copy upon request. It not, I'm sure it's on the internet here somewhere.

i didnt read the whole thing, but i called my mitsu dealer and asked them if an intake would void my warranty. they said it would if i didn't havea carb certificate for it. Just put the air box back on to take it in to mitsu. why risk it?
well its too late to put the air box in. I already took it down there. The service amnager told me that my leaking of gas could be due to vermon. He said that due to the rain there has been a rash amount of vermon going up to where the gas tank is and chewing at the lines. he said if thats the problem it will cost $235 if not it'll be under warranty. He didn't say anything about the intake but he also didn't look. So he said he won't be able to look at it till the afternoon. Thanks for your help wingnut. I'll keep u guys posted.
Call RRM and see if they have a Carb Cert. for your car. I'm not positive, but I do believe that their Intakes are Carb Cert. because they use K&N cone filters. http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/aftermk...rmktdevice.php, that page shows that the K&N cone filter is legal, you'll have to scroll to about 3/4 of the way down the page, but it shows the partnumber and everything. That is for Ca. law, but if its legal in Cali, then its legal everywhere else pretty much and it would have a Carb Cert. (usually just a sticker on one of the pipes). Here are the partnumbers and everything that the page shows,
69-6540TB 2002-2003 Mitsubishi Lancer (non-turbo) L4-2.0L
69-6540TP 2002-2003 Mitsubishi Lancer (non-turbo) L4-2.0L

69-6540TS 2002-2003 Mitsubishi Lancer (non-turbo) L4-2.0L
If there's anything else I can help with, let me know.

its probably your battery. you said you have an intake system (CAI or SRI) if your alternator is faulty the car could go off, hence restarting the ecu then when you start it, the car idles roughly and the SES light is on. try turning on the car, dissconnect the battery and see if it goes off. let us know
well its at the dealer now I'm going to look into getting that carb certificate incase they say anything. They were pretty busy there today when I went there and they didn't call me to let me know what is going on. I'll let you know what happens thanks guys.

Well I got a call and was told that since I park on my driveway which is an incline that gas leaked into some canistor and saturated it and caused it to leak. Said they should get the parts tomorrow. Also said it was covered under warranty!!!
