Factory Service Manual (FSM)

Does anyone know where I can get a Factory Service Manual, the actual book not a CD for the '02 Lancer ES? Is there a way I can get it direct from Mitsubishi? Or if you have one for sale I'll look into buying that. I would like to spend NO MORE than $20, but will if nessicary.

TIA
-Mike

You can get them directly from Mitsu, but if I remember correctly they run from $100 - $150

Pretty much, only all the pages are PDF files instead of paper.

Remember, if it's original it's gonna be expensive, I think the service cds are in the hundreds of dollars from mitsu...if the public can even buy them. If it's cheap it's not legal, and then you run into the risks associated with such.

So the ebay ones are illegal? b/c of copyright laws?

just get the ebay cd, and print it

then you have the manual, why is it so illegal to get a hold of these manuals?

It's illegal, but I don't see any manufacturers cracking down on them.

Example: If someone on ebay has cracked XP w/ random, correct series # and sells on ebay as pirated copies, I'm willing to bet that it won't take long for MS to storm the guy's house w/ lawyers.

As I see it, manufacturers don't care.

Mitsu or any car manufacturers have not hunted anyone down. In the MS example, MS goes after the seller, not buyer. In the mid-90's, few computer stores sold pirated MS products. It didn't take long for MS to shut them do.

I went to a local Mitsu dealer for the lisence plate mounting nuts while I was there I asked the parts guy about the FSMs. He said I could probably get them for some amount from Mitsu, but he also said that most of them are on CD now.
