Troubleshoot my sparkplugs

Changed my plugs yesterday and I'm wondering what's going on. All 4 plugs have dark residue, and the small bent pin on top is gray, almost white. The plugs that are not under the coilpacks are burnt in the middle part

All pictures are of the same plug

Is that plug saying Rich or Lean?

How long did you wait from change-to-change? Hard to tell if you have any electrode left on any of those plugs. I thought that a powderery-white look on the plug is casued by high-speed glazing...could be wrong though.

Your plugs look like they are old, or just faulty. In the worst case you are running lean but then the brown color on the bottom of the plug would contradict it.

How long did you have your plugs for and what brand are they and what wires do you have and how long did you use them for.

Your plugs are burnt and foulwed. If you absoultly need to put them back in then I would suggest cleaning them with some WD-40 and a rag and re-gaping them. Replace within 2 days after that. This is why I check my plugs once a month. Its a pretty easy task to ensure the safety of my engine.

Plugs are NGK BKR7E-?? same as stock plugs if I'm not mistaken. Took the part number from this board.
I ran the plugs for about 1 year(40 000km/24 856 miles).
I'm using stock wires

I have Sri, Kamikaze Header + downpipe, Catback. So I do have the Check Engine ON. I'm fueling 87 without any kind of additive(ie. Nos in a thincan ). My car backfires almost every time I shift(up and down) or simply take my foot off the gas(espescially at Wot).

If I were you I would replace the spark plugs(looks like your running lean), and just try a higher grade fuel...91, 93.....to see if the backfiring stops. Also, try reseting your battery. Start by doing the simplest stuff first. After you try that, update us.

Hotshot's right. Dangerously lean, hence the white tips and burned ceramic.

If you wanna see carbon fouling you should see MY plugs from before the pistons going. Funny though, because mine carbon foul from running out of boost, but I know they were running dead lean under boost for a good while too. Go fig.

Looks lean, plugs should be changed every 24,8000km.

The stock NGK plugs can be bought at Canadian Tire, bring the plug numbers, its not in their computers.

My car backfires all the time, I don't think that has to do with the spark plugs.

I just think they are old and need replaced.

You may be rich at times. You may be misfiring so badly that sometimes you're lean and sometimes you're rich (hence the backfire).

My car isn't misfiring.

It only backfires when have it a WOT and then let off, usually towards the top of the RPM range. I wouldn't be surprised if I was running rich, I just hope I am not running too lean. I really have nothing that should effect either one drastically to do any harm.

Your plugs really don't turn white from running too rich, and the ceramic is far less likely to scorch from it too. I'm willing to bet rich sometimes, lean others.

Well the plugs were changed on monday, but if you guys say I'm running lean I might know why.

I read a post a while ago about the big screw that's under the MAF. I unscrewed it till it was flush with the housing... I'll screw it back in tonight and see if it does any good. Now is the time I whish I had invested in a Wideband instead of stupid ****.

As far as resetting the ecu is concerned, I backfire even more when I reset it.

Allright well... I played with the maf screw yesterday and I so whish I had done that before. Now it's screwed in at maybe 25% instead of being flush with the housing. I've got no more buggin and hesitating at launch.
