Vacuum question
Vacuum question
i did a search and didn't really find what i was looking for.
i was replacing my vacuum hoses and when i started the car after finishing, the idle was eratic. i took it out for a spin and it seemed to drive fine, but when i would come to a stop, it would almost die, as the idle would go so low. when i came back home, i inspected my work and everything was correct.
THE QUESTION:
there are 2 short hoses on top of the throttle body (black/yellow and black/green). when i undo the black/green hose it idles fine. when i put it on it starts to die again. WTF?
somewhere on here i read something that said TOO MUCH vacuum creates a crazy idle. could this be the case?

Well if you replaced everything hose for hose it should run fine. I would go over the work done and make sure nothing came loose, no cracks or tears etc. Also did you try resetting your ecu? Sure you hooked up hoses in the right places, meaning you just didn't rip out all old hoses then install new ones? The proper procedure in hose for hose one at a time.
i did one hose at a time. i reset the ecu. checked all connections. they are all fine. all the hoses appear to be connected very well. could it possibly be something to do with the vacuum control valve, since that is where the one particular hose ultimately leads to? when i checked everything with the car running, that was the only hose that made a difference when it was undone. very strange...
thanks for the replies.
