HELP!! YOUR opinion PLEASE!!
Hey got an important question to ask you guys... Look at this situation im in... Everything is back to normal with the restrictor plate on and everything with the SAFC 2 running just fine ok lets start like that so u know where my mod at the car is at the moment with Short Ram intake from RRM...i recently took the car and drove up to NY a lets say 13 hour drive and.... basically i drove it alot up there and then i drove back another 12 hour drive lets say between 80-90MPH average(ESCORT passport helped tremendously but anyways) ... ON THE way back to GA the SES light came on unfortunately.... I took it to Advance Auto parts and it the code came out Warm up Catalyst below threshold... basically what they were telling me it was the O2 sensor by the catylat converter downstream seem to be bad... the Manager at Advance Auto told me to try some Intake Valve cleaner because probably some deposits got in and dirtied it... we did that and he turned off the light.... However, I drove it around and light came back on again 3 hours later that same day... Same code as last time... Well Im planning to take it to the Dealership because it is still under the warranty.. I have placed the SAFC 2 in the glove compartment like some people did in this website or so nobody could see it... if i just hide it behind the glove compartment even when u open the glove u wont be able to see it... Would they go through all the trouble to look to see if i added a piggyback on the car... Since the car is a 2004 lancer and it has an air intake system with SAFC 2 (thats if they see it) and not honor the warranty??? The Mileage on the car is close to 12,000 miles....
If you risk leaving it on, I would at least take off the SRI. Personally I would go completely stock before messing with anything warranty related. I feel you though. I'm going through something very similar, and I'm not sure if the Warranty is going to cover it. (The difference being my engine has zero comression.)
Now that recall code, by the way i did call and confirmed that there is a recall on the 04 lancer es, someone in the forum said that the code is related to the ECU and that'll the Dealership will Reflash it for you.. Now when they reflash it does that mean that they will do it in the Engine Bay or under by the DRIVER side or will they do it where ECU is actually located which is by the passenger side... if so then they will find out that i have SAFC 2 installed if they do it by the passenger side.. well that's only if i remind them about the recall, so should I??? But however i have put the STOCK intake back into the car and will take the car to the dealership sometime this week and hopefully they will fix the O2 sensor under the warranty knowing that "I havent done anything to car not even the intake because its back to stock".... what u guys think on this???
If it's a recall item, you can have a swapped engine from a Ford, drivetrain from a Toyota, rollcage, racing seats, r-compound tires, etc and as long as you're using the Mitsu Lancer 04 ECU, they have to perform the recall.
If it's just a bulletin at this point, I dunno
