Exclamation HELP _ Bottomed out Lancer

i bottomed out my car driving over a dip at about 45mph, now the hood wont close all the way. any suggestions, besides letting my insurance handle it? ive tried taking my latch off, and if i let it hang down in front of the a/c it allows the hood to close, but it wont stay closed without the latch obviously. people have suggested taking a hammer to the bottom of the car, but if it took me driving a 3000lb car over a dip and jumping it, i think its gonna take more than a hammer to fix this. help please, im too broke to get another car!

i'm sorry bud, but I'm with amby on this one. You might have some serious problems that make it unsafe to drive.....

prolly blew the welds on ur intake manifold... did the floor on the passanger side fall out? if not you may not be too bad off.. just take off the hood, stage 1 weight reduction...

okay so after that... year, what made you want to hit a bump that fast anyhow?

is it just the hood not closing? are the doors closing right? how about the gaps in the fenders/quarters? sounds like some major frame damage tho. oh yea, the hammer wont do anything but dent the bottom of your car.

WOW YOU TOO!!!
This exact thing happened to me in Colorado!!! Thats fu*kin' awesome!
I was goin down hill at about 45-50 and hit a dip and the car went flyin all 4 wheels airborne, and I landed nose first...
The hood was stuck up, and all kindsa ****...
10 bucks says you need a frame machine to pull out the pass. side of the radiator support and pull it outwards...

Wow, uncanny that were both exactly as dumb as eachother!
Call the insurance company and tell 'em that you fell into a deep-@ss pot hole the other night or sumtin'. If you tell 'em you were drivin' wrecklessly or carelessly, or anything that makes 'em think that; its gonna be harder for ya.

I had to go to a body shop to get it all fixed.
Luckily the cars fine, and it was just body damage.
No leaks or breaks or anything... Still do what Amby said, get it checked at the dealer. Just dont get it fixed at the dealer, go somewhere they wont overcharge your @ss...

Darn, this is totally unbelievable, so much for quality mitsu workmanship. And they have the nerve to call the OZ a rally racing edition If it can't handle dip in the road I'd hate to see it on an actual dirt rally course.

i got no leaks or anything, basically it looks like the tow hitches under the car are just really scratched up, so i think they took most of the blow. unfortunately, the gap between the hood and the bumper is nasty lookin, and i just quit my job so im a do-it-yourself kinda guy now. hopefully the estimate at the body shop isnt too bad, its just startin to rain out here and who knows what the water might do to my engine if it gets too hot down there... so how much did it cost in the end to fix all this, or did u just decide to replace the lancer after it failed to be a true rally car?
