Mother Kills S-AFC
Mother Kills S-AFC
Hey guys, well as you can tell from the title of this post my mother just killed my AFC.... Her being a mother had to put her seat all the way to the dash, along with putting her bags underneath the glove box.... now I had no clue to this until i glanced at the afc an noticed my car running odd.. so in the parkin lot i take a look at my wiring and lucky me she disconnected the brown ground wire.. so i reconnect it thinking ok i'll be all right , now I can't get into any of my settings or click on the 3 main channels it kicks meout of everything. now alli can think ofis disconnecting my battery for 20 mins and hoping that gives the AFC enough time to reset itself and realize everything is properlly connected... (gotta love parents and there $400 accidents) so hopefully maybe someone can give me some adviceon how to fix this problem thanks in advance
Ooh an by the way she said she's sorry not that, that makes the AFC work again or anything you know LOL

well, I've had the battery disconnected for about a half hour now.. So I went back outside and reconnected it, and the same thing happens.. It doesn't even give you the AFC screen it just jumps right into the 3 channel main menu.. You can't even select any of the 3 selections, it just jumps around when you click next.. Even if you do get into another menu it just tosses you right back out,man it figures ya know you work so hard for things and to get things just where you want them. Then **** like this happens..I even got my exhaust worked on today got rid of 1 the cats sounds so nice to.. Grrr well I have to go to court in the morning at 9, so I think I'll wake up early tomorrow morning and take a look at the wiring.. Just to make sure nothing else is actually disconnected ( I don't believe it is though) I just hope she didn't short out the AFC
thats a lot of money to replace it you know... Ooh well another day another problem!!!

Ahhhh !!! thank god it works again, I went outside a lil bit ago insted of waiting till tomorrow morning.. I checked all my wiring, and even kind of did a lil re wiring to make sure my connections where straight..So after all thati brought the AFC inside and took that apart made sure that was all nice and put it back together took it back outside re connected it along with my battery and whalaaaa it works once again.. thank god
now my pocket doesn't feel as if there is a huge dent in it LOL
so thats all i'm happy it's working. Now I just have to go to court in the morning for some stupid tickets that the cop had no right to give me in the first place!!! stupid pigs!

if that guy in the volvo didn't slow to 55, i wouldn't have gotten pissed and passed him getting caught.

ya man thank god it works.. damn man i'm sorry, that sucks i've been in that situation before to 75 in a 55 (lol just finished working on the car Oops) got it knocked down though to a 69 in a 55... an they never caught on to the points for it either lol.. but this time i got pulled over for not having my front plate i lost it some how.. The cop didn't care though.. then when i showed him my license he told me it wasn't one. cause my state id n my license share the same number (dumbass). so he made me park my car an drove me back to work at the dealership and had the ***** to ask me if i could get him a good deal on a car... (ya i can get you a good deal it's called CRUSHED!!!) LOL not only that he saw me just the other night at like 7-8 o clock n said turn your music down no one needs to hear it... what an *** there no noise ordinace until after 10 pm... so now i gotta go to court an show the judge that i am licensed and have been licensed since febuary 14th of last year, bet you they knock it down to failure to provide documents... as far as the front plate i dunno i'm gonna say i must of lost it that day in the bad weather or someone stole it cause i really have no clue where it went LOL,but i have a new 1 now... tomorrows gonna suck damn fines n court fees.. I hope the cop doesn't show to, so they drop it LOL
Hey guys
Well as you know last night my S-AFC went hay wire, then I apparentlly fixed it (or so I thought) ... Well today after I got out of court
, I stopped home before work to change n get my mom some smokes.Well on the ride to the store I notice my S-AFC doing the same thing it did the night before... So now I'm pissed once again and kinda figure well I can just do the same thing I did last night.. Well that didn't work and hasn't worked yet.I still had to go to work and now I'm home.. Now to the best of my knowledge everything is wired correctlly
but it still won't allow me to select anything... So at this moment in time the negetive battery terminal is disconnect and everything is wired to the ecu I have the AFC in the house with me, I took it apart (carefully) and made sure everything was all right the best I could.. I've been looking through my instruction manual and I noticed it says do not turn on the engine or turn it off when the AFC is in use.. Now since day one of the install whenever I would turn my car off , The S-AFC would stay on for a few seconds then shut off.. Is this bad: or does everyones elses do the same thing? Ya know I thought I had everything set right, I mean the car was even running to what I thought to be perfect.. I thought that just maybe I was on the right track to having a decentlly fast car... I figured I was going to be ready to do the turbo install next. and now I'm not quite to sure
... It just seems like everytime I get 2 feet forward, I get thrown 5 feet back..
I'm sorry guys I'm just really frustrated right now,I'm sure you guys understand... I feel like I'm running out of options on what to do as well....

Hey LOL sorry I dunno Murphy's Law.. But ya none the less wiring is the
... Question say I used a wired to extend another wire to give me more length and say the wire i was makin longer was a ground, but i used a yellow colored wire to go in between my brown and black that wouldn't make a difference right? as long as everything is connected or do different OHM's run through different types of wires? God I feel like a dumbass... Tomorrow hopefully I can get Ahold of my friends AFC plug it in and see it thats actually the problem,Maybe It shorted inside the AFC itself .... Which sucks cause that more cash I have to shell out after just shelling out 200 for the first one.

yo you gotta be really careful with this thing. it can really mess up your engine if you keep having problems with it. i hope you have not changed any of the settings without proper training with the unit or a wide band 02 sensor. i would take it to a shop that has dealt with the AFC before so they can make it actually work perfectly. u don't wanna waste ur engine by continuing to mess around with it.
This is all very true Z, but I don't think I'll be doing much with it though in the near future since this problem.. But like I posted before priar to this everything seemed okay..I've done some reading prolly not nearly enough though.. When I can actually get the time or the money together hopefully I can hit up a shop for now though I only have mondays and sundays off not to much is open on those days, that and the fact that the days I do work it's 8-5 mon-fri and 9-5 on saturday..... Also seems as if money just seems to dissapear in this house, along with other things..must have gremblins or something....
