CEL Still After Check Engine Light Eliminator

OK i bought the Road Race Check Engine Light Eliminator installed it on the 2nd o2 sensor reset the ecu. Drove around for about 5 mins and bam the cel is on once again. My question is do i have a bad o2 sensor plus i have a Air Fuel Ratio Gauge and that thing goes crazy when i drive around back and fourth between all the levels and even when I'm at idle it will jump. I know the Guage is installed right because i have done about 10 air fuel gauges in the past year on friends cars. I'm taking the car tomorrow to get the code pulled.

I bought the same thing. I havnt installed it yet, but when i ran a computer test it said the problem was the 1st o2 sensor not the 2nd. Try installing it there and see if that helps

Because my a/f readings are crazy and just not normal i'm thinking the first 02 sensor is sending werid voltage to my gauge and plus i read if you have a bad front o2 sensor you get horriable gas mileage and for the past 2 or3 months i have noticed i have been at the pump alot more than i should be.

Do not install it on the first O2! If your CEL is because of a header it will not solve the problem, trust me I learnt the hard way. All that happened is the eliminator melted and fused to the header which resulted in about 120$ worth of repair costs (nothing serious, the O2 bung just to be cleaned up and the CEL eliminator had to be scraped off). It's possible your gauge is causing the problem, a bad O2, any number of things. Get the code pulled and then come back, it could be a real CEL that was simply covered up by the header CEL.

true the cel has been on since about the summer time. I always thought it was the header but now that i think about it the shop that installed my header did the wrost freaking job possiable and i'm thinking the guy just f*cked the o2 sensor when installing the header.

Sounds to me like ur front 02 sensor is messed up. Get the code pulled and ull find out. Must likely its just bad and needs to be replaced. The back one should be fine and the box should elimin the cel.

Dont but it the front!!!! The front sensor reads A/F readings and the box just sends a voltage to the sensor to trick it.

A narrowband A/F gauge will jump all over the place during normal driving conditions. It does this because the stock narrowband O2 signal has a very limited range of voltages, and the readings jump all over the place.

If you know anyone around you with some sort of logging equipment, you can see the signal both O2 sensors are sending out. When I had my Lancer plus turbo kit, I had a check engine light because the pre-cat was no longer in the system. I bought an O2 sensor simulator from Summit Racing and installed it inline with the second O2 sensor. The code went away and never came back because the simulator output a flat signal and tells the ECU that the pre-cat is there. The simulators go for about $45 on Summit, but at least they work correctly.

If you end up needing a replacement, go to www.oxygensensors.com and pick up a universal one for just over $50.

This helps if your code is a P0420.I have tried everything and some work some of the time, this has yet to throw the CEL for me,and I am not the one selling these, nor is anyone I know.I bought it and it really works. Also,if you have an innovative Wide band they recommend these if you have problems "burning out" their o2 sensors, just go on their web site, looks the same but cost over twice as much.Hope this helps

Since you have a header, flip your cat around. That is what I did. NEVER had a CEL plus I don't have to buy one of those CEL Eliminators either.
