KN filter

I cleaned my filter today after like 25,000 miles and I could not believe the amount of dirt and bugs that were in it.

Anyway I wanted to ask if anyone knows how much oil you are supposed to spray back into it????? I did two coats on each side. I hope I wasn't supposed to use the whole spray can.

BTW Just as a test I had put back in the OEM filter and tried to see if I could tell any difference in the filters. I put my hand over the air box opening and sure enough to me the KN filter sucks a hell of a lot more air than the stock. (I revved the engine)

I followed them but it did not give any specific details as to how much oil to use or even how long to let the filter dry. I had to call KN for them to tell me it would take a matter of HOURS!!!

Alright heres what ya do:
1. remove the filter
2. brush off as much debris as you can with a paint brush or your hand
3. Spray the cleaner on evenly
4. Place the filter under a low pressure water source and clean the filter from the inside out. Not in the direction that the air is filtered so you dont push the dirt into the element.
5. Do one to two passes along the center of each pleat ( the recessed area).
6. Let it dry
7. After the filter dries you will be able to tell if you missed any spots by the color difference between the oil and non-oiled area.
Most importantly DO NOT saturate the element with oil go light.

Oh yeah it takes a little time to dry but you can tell when its dry just by touch or looking at it do not use a hair dryer or anything like that you will end up ruining your filter.
