Unhappy hid flickering randomly

Just installed my hid kit from the Banzai Express groupbuy and after the bulbs have heated up and im driving around i notice that the bulb will flicker, like a fast off on flicker. I was wondering if this is a normal thing or maybe something could be wrong with the ballasts... I hope its a normal thing. I would appreciate any help. Thanks in advance!

make sure your ballast isn't getting grounded, and check your connections.

yup recheck your connections...

since this is up, let me ask a question. I've had my HID's for about 2 years now and was wondering if the bulb is starting to go green on me ( it was blue ) does that mean it's time to change them?

no, that's how the 8000 kelvin bulbs are. I had them for 2 years in my truck, and then one broke so i bought another 2. They didn't match so i ended up just using the 2 new ones. I did some research and found out that HID bulbs actually get a little greener as they age. sylvania actually makes bulbs to color match for vehicles a little older so you don't have to buy a pair.

thanks for all the help guys. Problem was that i mounted the ballasts so that the wires were bending too much. Gave it a bit more slack and no more flickering

OK flickering came back. So...i ziptied all the wires to make sure they weren't moving around, and grounded the negatives directly to the battery ground because i was told by customer service at BanzaiExpress that my ground wasn't good. So the problem is still there but occurs less often. I've read how the flickering on/off of the hid bulbs can be detremental to the bulbs longevity so i really wanna find out how to stop this problem...Anybody got any ideas?

When i first powered up my hids the bulbs sort of flashed really bright randomly while the bulb was heating up. This problem went away after a few days though.

there is no way to have HID's on our rigs without losing the high beam is there.... this is the only thing holding me from getting them.

I think you would have to get cedia housings. mount hid's in low beam and regular bulbs in the high beam.

make sure your bulbs are actually secure in the housing. I have an evo, so i am not familiar w/ lancer headlight bulb. is it an h4?, if so, then make sure the little metal piece that holds the bulb is secure.
also, if the ballast body is metal, then make sure that it does not touch ground.
as for the ground, i would ground to body w/ a wire as short as possible, it is not beneficial to ground directly to battery

one more thing, if you used any type of vampire t's or other crimps to connect any wires, undo them, soldier the connections, and then use liquid e-tape to make the connection as water resistant as possible.

you can get a hybrid Hid light w/ the high and low built in...i'm not sure how good these are but their a good alternative and prolly twenty times brighter then a regular halogen light....

Okay made sure all the connections are good but i still got the problem. The brackets they supplkied to mount the ballasts are metal so any ideas on how id go about making sure they dont get grounded?

what do you need high-beams for when your HID are brighter.

They have hids now with High and Low for those who wish not to sacrifice.
