Hey, you needed to get a new hood anyway, right? I had some clown hit me in the rear, for what it cost to get a new bumper installed and painted, I could have gotten a damn full body kit. I get popped in the rear again, thats what I'll do. And reinforce it with steel beams... and diamond plate...

Does anyone know how to reset the Service Engine Soon light? I put a new Cold Air Intake on my Lancer O-Z and we forgot to reconnect the Mass Air Flow Sensor and started the car we immediatly realized what was wrng and shut the car off hoever the light still came on and I dont know how to get it reset? Does anyone know if there is a way other than taking it to the dealer?

alright, this same thing happened to be, obviously hehe, but anyway, a neighbor of mine works on cars, all he did was take off one of the battery terminals *like the postive and/or negetive* i forget which one, but try the negetive first, and if that dotn work, try the postive. You may loose all ur radio presets if you do the positive, but it should work, i think it the was positive one he did for me and that light turned right off

hope that works

Ya, I screwed up and forgot to hook up the MAS cable before I started my car after SRI install. I undid the pos cable on the battery for about 15 minutes, hooked it back up and then started the car and let it idle for about 15-20 minutes. No problems since. Good Luck!!

*** = damage?

yes. i don't see anyone saying what specifically will happen to the engine or even what it will do by not having it hooked up.
right. it will make it run rich and turn the check engine light on, plus give terrible gas mileage. the oxygen sensor also tells the ecm how to mix the fuel and advance the timing. i think the o2 sensor did this entirely, before the MAS existed. i believe they now work together and if one is not working the engine will not blow up, melt, disintegrate, or self-destruct. i must of damamged it when unplugging or re-pugging it to get it out of the way so i can install my intake. once i plugged it in, it shakes and idles low and when i give it gas it starts to die. i have to unplug it until i can get a replacement. it's hard to believe that unplugging and replugging would ruin/blow it but what else could it be?
since i need a new one, and the dealer wants $288, can i get an aftermarket one for about the same price?

For the record it won't DAMAGE your engine, but it WILL cause you to run extremely rich, therefore bogging your engine. The ECU won't know how much air you're pushing and it should richen the mix as much as possible to keep your AFR from leaning out. Whoever told you to remove the MAS should not be allowed near your car again.

aftermarket MAS? Not sure if such thing exists. Try wrecking yards, or you could find an alternative MAS, I believe Stew used something from a lawnmower, but I wouldn't recommend it. If you can't find anything, get the $288 one from the dealer. Will save you money in the long run.
