You pay extra for the stage 1/2/3/4/5 clutches so that they can catch and hold perfectly at higher rpms and higher HP ratings. Hope this guy knows what's up...

Dude bamboozled ya. 90 percent of repair shops do not order high performance clutches, even if they tell you they do. Its just like going to an exhaust shop and saying you want a performance exhaust. They give you a press bent piece of garbage with a flowmaster muffler. I'd try and do something with the shop and tell them you want proof that it is a high performance clutch, especially if its exedy, cuz i didnt even think they made a higher than stock performing clutch. With turbo you will definately need an upgrade otherwise you will burn it out again. And the straight fact that the guy told you that no matter what clutch you put in you cant run it at high RPMs shows that he's covering his ***. A clutch upgrade will ENSURE you can grip at higher horsepower and abuse.

Last time I looked, I didn't find any performance clutches from Exedy for the Lancer. Someone prove me wrong.

i think that i may have found the clutch... i was looking around on RRM's site and saw this one that looked just like the one that was put in...I emailed rob from RRM to see who actually made the clutch

Road Race STAGE 2- 2600lbs. Clutch and Pressure Plate (US Lancer)

02-06

This is a performance clutch for the lancer. We developed it to accomodate extra horsepower of a TURBO LANCER but all performance minded Lancer owners can benefit from this performance clutch and pressure plate. Clutch and Pressure Plate only.
