Electrical Problem

Need some help here..

Once again...lancer in need..doh! My lancer somehow, act of God I think, recieved a huge surge to the system, which in turn blew the fuse link on the battery cable. Got a new fuse link, but now the car will not start. I'm not sure if it is the starter or something worse, but the car acts like it is about to turn over and start but it just doesn't. You guys got any ideas? Would the surge reach the computer even when the fuse link blew?

Taylor

it could be your starter, or just check all of your fuses , the ones under the hood and under your steering wheel

with a hard enough surge yes it could jump the fuse link and blow the ECU, but man would it have to be one hell of a surge. You sure your battery is still good ?

Nope,

That one wasn't me. Car went to the shop today, so maybe they can tell me something. What happened to the guy whos terminals got crossed? Seems like it would reverse the polarity.

^^^When I meant crossed, I meant like a metal object (say a wrench) touched both terminals at the same time and POOF!

"Don't cross the streams!!"

Another question, I am looking around to make sure other things aren't shot, is the ignition coil fuse in the fusebox, or is it located elsewhere, cause I think it could be that keeping me from firing.

I am having the same problem with my car. it really sucks because i had to push it so far all because AAA says that they will " NOT TOUCH" a modded car. For about 3 days i had it running. I bought a new fuel Pump because if your problem is like mine i pulled the fuel line away from the fuel rail errr regulator i think it is. and when i tried to start the car no fuel was coming out. Maybe you should check that all you will need is a small flat head to undo the hose to the regulator. Umm after that i bulieve i changed two of the mini 15amp fuses near the EcU. ( One is your fuel pump i dont remember the other one ) For awhile my car was running and sometimes i would have to Bust out my Jump BoX. And it would start with a Jump box sometimes with a little bit of struggle, and sometimes it will just NOT turn over at all.
I would suggest checking the fuel line and see if it is pushing anything out. Into the fuel rail. if not and the fuses all seem on, Remove the back seat ( it pops right off just pull it up NOT the BACK RESTS the seat it self, Unscrew the 4 Screws on the black square where your fuel pump is located and Have someone try and start the car while you listen to hear if there is any activity or anything.) and put your ear down low to listen for activity....

Thats the step i am pretty much back at. I have school on top of work so i really dont get to work on her to see whats wrong as much as i would like too but i also have a 240sx that is all taken apart. SO ITS BUMMIN RIDES FOR ME. I will keep you posted if i figure anything out and i would appreciate if you did the same for me! Laters Man Good Luck

hmm, i forgot about the two 15a minis by the ECU. How much did your fuel pump run? I priced one and it was like 430 bucks...ouch. Don't even ask what the ECU price was.

Turns out to be the ignition fuse. Sounds a whole lot better than a blown ecu.

My fuel pump was 191.00 not to much a good 20 hours of work paid for it so it was not to much of a pocket breaker. But it makes sense Ignition Fuse. So if that is out then the car will still sound like its trying to start but just not turn over? Because i also think that i am not pumping any fuel because there is already to much in there already and if its not igniting then its not gunna throw some more in. You know? I DUNNO anyways man thanks alot i am going to have to look into that!
