MAF sensor help

OK.. in my other post I stated that i was being a dumbf*ck and took out the honey comb thing in front of the MAF sensor. Now my car wont idle at all. I just called the dealership and a new sensor cost 259.68. I was wandering is the a cheaper way to just get rid of this sensor. THanks for all the help

Yes, the salvage yard. Look at any mirage with a 1.8L from 99-02.

97-98 1.8L MAF is similar to the 1g GSX and its wire harness. Wrong for your car.

No such thing as cheaper way to get rid of MAF . . . you can try HKS VPC. At that price, most would faint a near death experience.

You guys are going to laugh sooooo hard. ok.. Since I have no money and a new MAF cost 260.00 dollars. I decided to get creative. I went to Jack in the Box and took about 50 staws. The next morning I spent 2 hours glueing the staws into a honey comb looking thing. I will post pics tommorow. but anyways... I put the staws in front of the sensor and now it works perfect. So I saved 260.00 bucks...

I already reset the ECU. I also installed some mesh between the back of the sensor just incase the straws break. Its crazy how good it works.. you would never know straws where in my intake.

MAF is a sensitive measuring instrument. For other guys is the future, do not tamper with it! Good luck finding one. Try PITSTOP in Sun Valley. They have a lot of Mitsu parts.

Mad props for the ingenuity

But I would only use it as a temporary fix since the heat under the hood may start melting the straws or at least make them sag over time.

Just a thought, I'm sure you don't want a bunch of melted plastic in your intake.

You can also go to the junk yard and find a DSM with the honeycomb and pull it out and trim to fit the EVO. Use a pencil and a piece of cardboard at the end to carefully push it out.

Good Luck

dude if the glue goes on that your gonna start sucking the straws into your motor

its like the shot from the fast and furiouse
were you see the nitrus goin into the car
only i see red straws flying through the tubes and then a big ol valve cocmes and gobbles em up like suckie the dog!
