Exclamation Catalytic Converter

How do I remove that sensor from the catalytic converter?? I'm having a hard time getting my hands in that area and since the Auto Hobby Shop is about 3 blocks away, by the time I get there and get the Lancer on the lift, its freakin' HOT!!! Also, if you're looking at the cat as if you're driving, how do I remove the nut that is on the top right w/o burning my hand?? Anybody have any tips??

Hey bro. You have to drop those bolts on the rubber mounts and lower the converter to get at them. I had to do that when I put on my test pipe. Hope this helps.

First I removed the bolts from the rubber mounts but the Cat was so heavy that the sensor wire was getting pulled and I didnt want it to rip off. Any more suggestions??

I just used a regular open ended wrench to get the O2 sensor off, then i had to use a cutting torch to get the 4 bolts off.

I should've added that it was easier for me to leave the back end of the converter connected.

To remove the O2 socket I used a ton of WD and a O2 socket with a wrench over my ratchet.

I had absolutly no probs getting my cat off, socket with a breaker bar, popped those biatches loose like nothing! used an opened end wrench to get the O2 sensor off, had to hit the wrench a couple times to break it loose, but once it popped, undid it the rest of the way by hand!

You can also save yourself the risk of ripping the o2 sensor wiring out (careful, that piece is upwards of $300+ for a replacement ) and get an o2 sensor socket for $10.

As for how to get the nuts off, make like J'sLancer and get yourself a breaker bar. I mean, unless you WANT things to be difficult.

use muscle! I didn't have an openend wrench that big so I used an adjustable one and got it off in no time.
