Not Starting after rebuild

Just got my engine put back together and its in the car now but it wont start. I have a brand new battery but it wont turn over. I checked fuel pressure and thats okay. I checked the spark plug wires and only one is firing. For timing, my adjustable cam gear has a dot and a line so i adjusted timing based on the dot because the crank has a dot. I also tried advancing and retarding the cam but no luck. Any help would be appreciated.

For clarification, when you say it won't turn over, you mean it cranks but won't start?

Try swapping your coils and/or spark plug wires around and see if the one that's firing moves or not. If it does, either your coils or your spark plug wires are bad.

Cam gear adjustment should be at 0* whatever that is, line or dot. It won't make a huge difference anyway, because it only adjusts the timing, not whether or not the spark plug fires.

Check all grounds. You can also temporarily run a wire from the engine block to the chassis for testing purposes to ensure it's grounded.

Okay, everything is grounded great and still the same problem. I rechecked all the plugs and tried switching them around and still only number 3 sparking. So are we looking at a coil pack problem or computer problem?

Sounds to me like you missed a connection somewhere! Even if the timing was off, all the spark plugs would be sparking. If timing was off it would just be really hard to start or run like crap. Sounds to me like a connection somewhere. Take your time and look around. Start at the end of the harness coming from the firewall and retrace every wire to a sensor.

I checked everything again and i did miss two small ground wires but all wires are pluggd in. Still not starting. I took the coils and spark plug wires off my sisters lancer and put them on mine and still nothing. I dont want to but i may have to take it to a dealership and have them charge me out the @$$. I tried everytihng i could, i think.

Any more things I could possibly check.? Could it possibly be the computer? I had it out for 2 months just sitting on my desk. I checked those 4 connections and they are tight. I wonder if it is because the engine dropped. The only thing that was bad was the alternator bracket and the oil pan got a bit bent. Almost nothing was on the engine electronic wise at the time or any pumps or the intake manifld.

I had a Stroker motor put in, and they pinched the Crank angle sensor wire, and I had the same problem. I was there when they found it. Easy fix, resoldered the wire, Fired right up!! It was on an evo though............maybe same problem? It was by the cam cover on the evo. Screwed a bolt in, and caught the wire in the threads while doing it.
