Quick questions...

1.) My car has a bit of a squeel under acceleration, but only when i'm accelerating without downshifting. I'm thinking a belt or something? It's kind of annoying. Not terribly loud but it's nagging.

2.) What is needed to upgrade from the crappy wiper system in the ES to an LS adjustible speed one? Is it just the column mounted lever?

Squeal is normal, it's just the belts. As for #2, I would guess the lever system, the motor and maybe even the ECU since supposedly the wipers actually go based on car speed.

^Wipers based on speed? No... Assuming the OZs are the same as the LSs, there is the "quick flip"- single wipe you can use by tapping up once. Then you have the time-sensitive adjustable settings. Maybe 4 or 5 of those. Then the normal constant wipe, and then the fast wipe. Don't forget the "pull" function for the wiper fluid...

That's just what I've heard, supposedly when you set the wipers to intermittent they can adjust to the speed you're going.

Isn't that an option on more expensive, luxury cars? Haven't noticed this myself...

Ok, well here's maybe a bit of a clarifier

My car (an ES...go figure) has wiper controls that you push up for a quick one strike wipe, and you push it down for different speeds. I think it's only got low, intermittent and high.

What i'm looking for are the ones where the end of the wiper control twists to set the speed of the wiping...action. At least I think that's how the wiper control works in the Mutsubishis...

I have noticed that the fastest intermittent setting is the same as the slowest constant setting while you are moving, but is intermitent while you are stopped. I'm not sure if the other intermittent settings do something similar to this or not. I doubt you would need the motors, but you might need an ECU and you definitely need lever. You should be able to figure it out if you look at a factory service manual.
